Always a great time. An opportunity to sample and appreciate traditional beer styles brewed authentically by some of the world's original craft brewers. Refine your taste buds. I believe all but 10 of the beers will be on tap Friday when they open. Football on Sunday is always fun during Germanfest. This years list seems a little thin, I know there were a couple of breweries Casey was excited to get and found distribution for in the state but the beers were never registered with the state and there wasn't time to do so before the fest, also getting fresh kegs of the Pils, Helles, etc is a challenge, rather than put on beers to keep the numbers up, you can rest assured everything will be fresh (when appropriate) and delicious. Enjoy.

An excellent event for the reinheitsgebot crowd, or any real beer fan.

I went last year and had a really great time. Those ten ounce sampler pours are a great deal. I wish I didn't have to miss it this year.

Looks like an great tap list, with lots of interesting German beers that I can't even find in Germany (the lack of country-wide distribution is an ongoing issue of complaint in the Germany forum... at least by me). You've italicized some great stuff. If you have leftover liver capacity, though, I would recommend giving two specific beers a try: Weissenhoe Bonifatus Dunkel (I quite like most of their beers actually...) and the Schneider Edel-Weisse. Both are on the gravity list. The Schneider Edel-Weisse is one of my favorite weizens, though it is sold as "Tap 4:Mein Grunes" in Germany. Whichever name, it's a great beer. Enjoy the fest and let us in the Germany forum know what you thought of the beers! We're always interested.

There are 10 Gravity Kegs and 71 Drafts listed above, which is quite a lot; so, I wonder if more will actually be announced. However, there are always discrepancies between what is posted and what is available, but that is to be expected.

The gravity fed Schneider Edel-Weissse, out of the 30 liter cask, is arguably the finest German beer I have ever tasted (first sampled at this event 4 or 5 years ago).

This is always an outstanding event, and best of all, typically Max's doesn't get anything like the crowds for it you routinely see at some of the other, more popular events (guess because it's essentially a lagers only event?). As DrBier and Gillagorilla both point out, the 10 ounce sample mug is the way to go, and is an amazing deal, considering the scarcity and quality of some of these beers.

Have passed on the email from Casey to some of my old friends at work, so at least I can enjoy this event vacariously. I only wish I could be there in person.

    Prosit!!!

Super event. Very relaxed, not crowded and world class beer. As stated earlier the Schnider Edel Weisse from the wooden gravity keg was phenomenal. If you like tart/sour beers there's none better than Bahnhof's Berliner Weisse, after today I've been able to try 7 different versions of this beer (all thanks to THE MAN Casey Hard) and each is outstanding and different. Although the Berliner Weisse w Brett aged in Zinfandel barrels (Zymatore) was really, really good. Also of note were the Hofbrau Delicator, Freigeist Ehrenfelder Alt, Schneider Porter Weisse and the Monarchy Year of the Dragon (listed as an ale brewed with Jasmine Rice, tasted more like a Bock Beer to me but was really good all the same). Just finished a bottle of Apostelbrau First Bavarian Pale Ale that I brought home, super tasty. As always, big props to the outstanding staff at Max's. In the downing of a couple o' pints it'll be time for 72 hrs.
