I'm coming to Miami in 2 weeks and will be there for a week. I'm staying at the Marriott Biscayne Bay and looking for suggestions on breweries, bars and stores. From the looks, J. Wakefield and Wynwood Brewing are close. Any other suggestions in the city? I'm driving from Charlotte so I will have a car and I'm open to suggestions in other cities on the way down.
http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/from-boca-to-miami.354133/ Maybe hit up @ColdOne to see what he most enjoyed. You'll undoubtedly be told to stop at Funky Buddha along the way. Jacksonville has a few breweries of note. But I'm gonna stop now because I know folks from that side of the state will have better recommendations.
Concrete Beach, Wynwood and J Wakefield down in Miami. Make a trip up to Broward and hit Funky Buddha brewery, Funky Buddha lounge, Barrel of Monks, Copperpoint, Due South , The Mack House. Check out the Brew Bus, they do tours and in pretty sure there is one that starts in Miami and heads north into Broward
I have to second the FB Lounge in Boca, even if you're already visiting the brewery in Oakland Park. There's no groovier place in Boca (by a long shot), and they have a giant bottle list on top of their own taps.
Mendez Fuel in coral gables does crowler/growler fills and they have a pretty decent bottle selection. Kush in Wynwood has a great beer selection and good burgers, but it's a little pricey. And if you can make a trip west to Doral, I'd recommend MIA Brewing
Yes, you can do those all in one night, but it's hard to leave Wakefield. Go to Kush early the wait after 6:30pm can get really long. There is a great growler gas station in Miami called Mendez, if you want some hotel beers to enjoy. Buddha isn't that far, but some of the others are pretty far: Due South, Monks, Bangin Banjo, Copperpoint, Buddha Lounge. Buddha in Oakland Park release new beers and growler releases on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Friday and Sat nights past 9pm can be way to busy, just a warning. Enjoy the trip!
Add Boxelder to that list as well. Cool little beer bar/bottle shop ran by some cool peeps. Always tons of local stuff on draft. Everything else has been covered with the exception of Saltwater Brewing on your way down. Enjoy your trip
There are 3 Sons beerz on tap at the Brass Tap Ft. Lauderdale.. They are a brewpub and Corey brews beer for them and they serve liquor too if you are with people who don't drink beer..
Random question about 3 Sons... I was at BT in Naples last week and had a few beers that I assume were 3 Sons, but the menu never explicitly stated such. It just said House Beers or something to that effect. The beers I remember were a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a Camp Time S'mores Stout. Corey has his brews in the Naples location from time to time too, correct?
Yeah that's accurate. He's brewing at the BT in Ft Lauderdale and his beers get served as some other locations. They are listed on the menu as house/brass tap beers
My wife will be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami for a conference. Are there any nearby bottle shops nearby that will be worth her time?
This place is probably closest, short of Total Wine on south beach. Biscayne Gas 5402 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33137 United States There is another similar in Coral Gables, but that place in general can be a nightmare getting into and out of any time of the day. This place is a bit of an oddity, there seems to be no real organization, but it's cool to go in an hunt for stuff
