A good buddy of mine just moved to Milwaukee from the Chicago area. He really knows nothing about the area and is looking for good bottle shops and bars that have great craft beer selections. He said he lives close to down town close to Brady street or East town. Any help that I can forward him would be great. Thanks!

For a solid lineup of bottle and tap beers, he should hit up Milwaukee Public Market and Whole Foods. After he figures out which ones he likes, he can start hunting down the craft beer bars.

Just don't eat at Stubby's. I'd hate for that to be his first taste of Milwaukee. They do have a great tap list, and growler fills to boot.

Comet for food and decent beer. Rumpus Room for fancy food and an incredible tap list.

I'll agree with you on Comet's food, and within walking distance to boot. Unfortunately, their beer selection has suffered since Sam left and went to Stubby's. Not to mention their "beer school" . And I go to Rumpus Room for their Whiskey...their beer menu is impressive but they always seem to be "out" of what I order. Hmmmm....

Yeah they do- last two or three times I've been to Rumpus looking for Black Husky... no dice.

Stubby's beer menu is consistently awesome. Better even than Sugar Maple and Romans'. It's ok to say that here, right?

Haven't been to Comet for a while. That could be a prime beer spot if they'd keep the taps rotating with really great stuff.
