Hop-15 was released a week or two ago and is one the hoppiest beers I've tasted.

Chillwave is very bitter or dank aftertaste. not sure if you mean bitter or dry or Dank as these all are very much part of the IPA style. I perfer my IPA's to be dry and dank like my tougue is swelling up on every sip

I love Palate Wrecker but don't consider it to be bitter at all. Perhaps my "bitterness palate" is shot.

I love hoppy beers as well as the next person but most people max out on their ability to detect bitter over 100 IBUs and then there are also issues on how effectively IBU reflect the actual bitterness that we perceive.

The bitterest beers I've experienced weren't IPAs at all. This includes one at a brewery where they had put in 8 pounds of West Coast hops per barrel. What makes beer taste bitter is when there's nothing to offset the hops , high attenuation and no malty sweetness.
Mind you, the genuine IPAs must have been incredibly bitter as all the sugars had been fermented out so spoilage organisms would have nothing to feed on , massive bittering ( as opposed to aroma ) hopping and then Brett to finish the job.

I find Bigfoot Barleywine to be extremely bitter when fresh. Moreso than most any IPAs. I agree Ruination and Pallet Wrecker are both heavy on the bitter finish. I thought Chillwave was smooth/sweet finish.

High IBU + lower ABV = more bitter. That is the equation that seems to hold true as I've had several pales and session ales under 6% and maybe 60-70 IBUs that were much more bitter than 100+IBU double IPAs in 8-10% range of ABV.

Weird, I get more malt/syrupy sweet from this than bitter...

I don't find Abrasive to be anywhere near as bitter as Palate Wrecker, or even Ruination for that matter.

Interesting how people's palates seem to interpret bitterness so differently from one another.

Palate Wrecker and Resin are two big hop bombs. Hop Slam is another one.

Have you tried Hopsickle? Or Ruination? And what beer was it you thought most bitter?

You might give Saint Archer IPA a try. I find it to have a more subdued hop presence but a very stringent bitterness. The first one will go down easier than the second.

Huma has a 96 IBU, straight from the short's website.

I am not a hop head and don't love crazy bitter beers and Huma is still drinkable to me.

Not yet , never seen either in these parts. The only US IPAs I've tried weren't particularly bitter, just had masses of floral tastes (like the one I mentioned before that I had in the brewery)
Those truly bitter beers were from local breweries.
Believe it or not Boddington's was renowned for its bitterness , these days it's cloying and sweet. How are the mighty fallen.

I recommend Ruination if you can get it fresh. Hopsickle not so much.

I once made a low ABV homebrew with all my left over hops and a huge bittering charge that was undrinkably bitter.

Hopsickle, though higher ABV, is close to that, with barely enough malt to compensate, and enough late addition to keep it interesting. Actually tastes like chewing a hop cone while drinking it.

Would love to have tried that original Boddingtons, as super bitter beers are one of my guilty pleasures
