Moving from Chicago to Denver

What part of town are you moving to? Denver is pretty spread out

I moved here from chicago back in June. It has taken me a while, but I finally have a good handle on the beer scene out here. I miss a lot of my midwest brews, but there is a ton of great stuff here. Hit me up woth a provate message if you want to talk beer or Chicago. I miss the hell out of that city. The dude above has no idea what he is talking about. Chicago is the greatest city ever.

Anyways I moved here from Chicago as well and love it. Sure you will too. Spots to hit on the lesser known side: TRVE, Hogshead and Hops and Pie. There are plenty of great threads in our Forum on where to go and what to see.

Best bottle shops in town Mr. B's, Small Batch and Argonaut which has had a phenomenal selection lately.

@bingenbrew I also just moved here from Chicago in September.

Besides many of the obvious breweries like the ones you mentioned, the Fort Collins spots, etc, there are a few that I've discovered around Denver that are my favorites so far. A couple you might want to check out: Station 26, Wit's End, Hogshead, and De Steeg.

 

Denver is a draft beer town. The vast majority of breweries around town don't package, or at least don't do a lot of packaging. Some are good, some are bad, and there are a metric shit-ton of them now.

I think 80% of Denverites are former Chicagoans (including myself). The one thing we ask is that you don't bring the insanity of the Chicago beer scene to Denver. It's crazy enough out here, we don't need people lining up for hours to get a bottle of alcoholic root beer On a side note, my family from Chicago is here for turkey day, so I just got my fix of Chicago brews muled out for me. Hello Heyoka, Daisy Cutter, and Ninja vs. Unicorn...it's going to be a good Thanksgiving

Just to echo the statements of all but one person on this thread, you're moving to a great beer scene here in Denver. I moved from San Diego 6 months ago, and if the beers themselves haven't been a step up from SD, I think the people who make up the beer community certainly have been.

I got many of the above recommendations on shops, breweries and bars when I moved out and they've all been solid. DM me if you've got any specific questions for a recent Denver-mover, otherwise I'll stay out of the way and defer to the above posts. Welcome to Denver!

 

I was looking at that exhibit at DIA and there was a sign that said Colorado sells more beer on draft than any other state, or something along those lines.
