After posting twice and then disappearing due to general busyness, etc., I should be back for the long haul. I've been in NY for almost a month for job training of a sort and I had made arrangements to meet up with a fellow BA while I was here just to hang out over a few beers. I brought with me a 4-pack of Head Hunter and 2 Maumee Bay Total Eclipse and we met up at Good Nature Brewing co. in Hamilton, which was a cool little brewpub. He had recently taken a trip to Vermont and I ended up receiving some of the benefits. Sorry about the blurry pic. [IMG]
The picture is 3 from the Alchemist:
    Heady Topper
    Crusher
    Focal Banger
and Mastermind DIPA from Fiddlehead Brewing co.
Is it a bit hop-heavy? Yes. Do I mind? Nope.
The difficulty is knowing in which order to drink them.

I would love to try it with whatever the Laos cuisine happens to be. I have never had any, only Thai & Vietnamese food, both of which can be very spicy indeed.

In addition to the Billionaire, this has been my favorite bomber offering from them. I'm glad you liked it.

Good day to all my fellow NBS followers. This week I'm hitting the trifecta with this brew; SARA Lady in Grey.

    1) First ever Sante Andairius Rustic Ale
    2) Based on #1 this is obviously a new brew for me
    3) First ever grisette

Was a nice, subtle, funky brew. Smells of lots of white grape with a decent amount citrus and acid. Taste follows suit. Not a ton of funk, could see this as a very refreshing brew on a warm summer day. Very low carbonation and a pretty dry finish. Overall a very good beer.

    Cheers and sante!

New "Session Ale" AKA American Pale Ale Sunday!

Today here in Baltimore had the feeling of Autumn. Crystal clear skies and brisk chilly winds. Thats all I got to say about that. Now its time for the new brew!

    Courtesy of @gillagorilla Thanks Bruh!

This brew is pretty ok. Nice appearance of Honey and gorgeous hues. The aroma is very nice of citric and peachy fruits and a resinous hop background. The flavor was a little let down, but it is what it is. The flavor isn't as bright as the aroma with all the fruitiness going on. Here's the link for more info on what I thought about Yum Yum. (Click here)

    Grade: B+

Cheers my fellow New Beer Sunday Crew!

    Salutations to All NBSers
(and to all who are peeking in, checking it out, and waiting to see how we dance here),

    We love ALL contributions here.

Weather here in SoCal has become pleasant. Not as hot as a few weeks ago. Cooling down into the low 60's at night, and hitting the 80's by the mid-noon hours. But as my kin in Oklahoma say, "I'll tell you what, you get straight out there in the sun, and that breeze goes and drops off, it's pretty damn hot." FInally had some clouds crossing the sky, breaking up some of the sun's intensity. Feels like Autumn is "almost" here for us.

Enjoyed Raspberry Truffle Abduction from Pipeworks

Thanks to @Kevinpitts for this Chicago gem.

Well I was excited to try my 2nd in the Abduction line from Pipeworks.

The pour was opaque and luscious. Dark, tempting, mahogany.

OOhhh the raspberry comes leaping out of the glass as the pour begins.

Taste, raspberry leads the charge. Tart, juicy raspberry. Hmm what else? More raspberry, a hint of sweet and roast, and...more raspberry. Now I love raspberry. One of my absolute favorites blended in strong ales. But, I'm still seeking chocolate. Where's the chocolaty truffle characteristics? Finishes with a tongue to pallet scraping of raspberry. MMmmmm raspberry.

The finish is more of the same, dominated by the raspberry tartness. Feel is medium weight, fine. But the raspberry even comes through in the "feel" of this one. Alcohol is not noticable.

Overall, I like it, but since it's called Raspberry Truffle Abduction, I would've liked a hint of chocolate. Still a damn good beer. Would gladly drink it again, but knowing i might not get any chocolate.

My final 'New Beer' of the day; another gift from my son. Seeing that I had a beer from Laos, I thought this Thai style White IPA from Upslope Brewing would be a fine follow up. And it was!

Nice pour, with a light head that dissipated fairly quickly. Very 'white', looks like a light beer in many ways. But the aroma had some interesting notes, a bit fruity and a bit spicy. The first sip proved that to be true - a strong ginger flavor, with the hoppy citrus taste coming on the back end. The other listed spices - Thai Basil, coriander, & lemongrass, were subtle, and harder for me to pick out, although they added some flavors beyond the ginger & hops. All in all, a fascinating combination that was a pleasure to quaff. Send me more, son!

New Hoppy Saison Sunday (week 504)

Greetings fellow NBS'ers from on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. Tasty day here, intermittent sun and cool temps, a crazed day of work with, seemingly, every resident of the town in to do that recycling thing, and now the reward for such a day, great local beer. Let me take a moment to express my admiration for Mr. Evan Watson, owner and brewer of Plan Bee, who makes his beer with 100% local ingredients, including what he grows and raises on his farm. More than that he is a genuine, down to earth wonder of a man, whose care and love for what he does is evident in every delicious sip of his beers.

A tasty beer for a tasty day. what more can I desire, what more can I say? Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

My new beer today is Southern Tier Sonnet. I respect Southern Tier and what they do/are doing. They make some mighty high ABV beers and their only horrilbe misses for me have been Farmers Tan and Creme Brulee. UberSun was my favorite...RIP.

A- Body is a translucent, uniformly hazy golden yellow hue. Pours with a 1-2 finger foamy white head that fades to a thick collar with some lacing left behind in the glass.

S- Nose is good and pretty typical for a saison. Lemongrass is at the forefront-but it is soft with a very prominent but sweet floral hop aroma. There is a mild bready smell in the background.

T- Upfront is a lot of lemon, citrus, a hint of banana with a bready yeast backbone and floral hop overtones. The finish is slightly tart with the lemon and floral hops really showing the most.

F- Medium to high carbonation, light to medium weight body with a dry finish.

O- Overall this is a good, pretty typical saison. The addition of lemongrass is fitting and doesn't really do anything crazy or unique to the flavor profile. This is a good brew from southern tier and a nice saison overall. As with most ST beers the alcohol is very well hidden behind a full body and flavor.

    New Planet Beer

It's definitely fall in West MI. Chilly with clear skies gave way to some warmth this afternoon. That made for a good opportunity to get some yardwork in after the indoor jobs were done.

Today's beer was just "ok." Glad I had it for the novelty of it all.

Hoping to get in another before the family settles in for movie night (Ghost Busters).

Yet another beautiful day in NorCal.
This blanket of fog cleared away by 9 and I joined my first group bike ride ever. Been thinking of joining a cycling club for a while and was a great first step into learning how to ride with a group. Couple of cute ladies too! But I digress... A bit slower of a pace than I am accustomed to but that was okay. It's still fun to blow past guys on bikes that are 5x more expensive than mine.
Now settling in watching some NFL (thanks Rams for shutting up Seattle!) and enjoying this, bottled 9/24...
Might be the lighting but ironic that the label is close to the same hue as the beer itself.
Nothing super hoppy on the nose as I recall other Harvest Ale's from SNBC being however a different hop style.
Nice light mouthfeel. Not too crisp but not anything to complain about.
Definitely fresh in the flavor. Nice little hop and spice in the mouth and certainly easy drinking, especially after 48 miles on the bike. And for $6 for 24oz, worth a try again.
