I've had a few Allagash brew's, and to me many were pretty tasty and not that expensive at all.

    Cheers!

Could you tell us anything else about it? What makes it good? Anything about the flavors or aromas you're picking up, or what separates it from other beers in its style?

    Cheers!

This is my favorite song off the album. My Uncle died in a car wreck (Street Racing) in the late 70's. That album was probably in the cassette player while he was found D.O.A., the Irony.

A lot of their 4pack brews never really impressed me, though they are solid. Nancy though changed my mind about Allagash making a quality and World Class brew.

Hello all! It's a windy day here on Maui so kicking back at the house watching some football and enjoying some beers, one of which is Big Island Brewhaus White Mountain Porter.

This one pours a pitch black with about a finger head. It actually has very nice lacing for a porter in my opinion. The smell is coffee and malt dominant, along with toasted coconut. Vanilla, coffee, coconut, a hint of spice and roast, are all in the taste. The flavors really shine in the after taste as-well. It is a pretty thin beer to me, but then again I mostly drink thick, big stouts, so that makes my opinion somewhat biased. It is nice and sweet and very smooth, but still a little thin for me. Overall this is a decent beer, but at $10 a bomber I won't be buying it again, especially when Maui Brewing's Coconut Porter is $10 a four pack and actually tastes better to me.

Yep, it was a muddled mess, but had flavor. It is an "ugly" beer, but the Rogue Blue Cheese truly helped it out!

Actually haven't been partaking in the herbs too much lately, its crazy expensive out here compared to California. Definitely prefer Maui flowers to CA flowers, but can't beat walking into a pot shop and buying some legal "medicine"...

Only 361 days till Christmas. Wow! Where did December go? All of our decorations are down except the outside lights. I miss it already. A full month of being on the run didn't allow as much time to soak it in and do some more stuff with the kids as I would have liked, but if those are my problems, life is good.

@Greywulfken, the tequilla was superb. I spent a lot of time talking to the locals about bringing back the best of the best. I think it was about $90, but I remember them making fun of Patron, calling it a mixer. This one is a sipper. Sooooo smooth. BM your address and I will send you a sample. Plenty left since few wanted to partake. Too much negative connotation with to kill ya because everyone just shoots it and gets drunk on cheap stuff.

Speaking of smooth, enjoying some sunshine on this gloomy day thanks to this brew @Roguer sent me.
It's hard to tell how good it is fresh, as he sent me this dinosaur of a can last week (sarcasm font)

Here is the full monty http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17980/117177/ Final tally 4.46

Aroma is citrusy, with sweet fruits, sweet malt, floral hops. Nothing crazy here.

The taste is impressive. Multiple fruit flavors. Almost reminds me of a handful of those "Runts" mixed fruit hard candies we used to eat as kids, except better and minus the little bananas. Sweet malt base. Subtle dankness. The hops are slightly bitter and floraly, but very well integrated with the rest of the flavors. No noticeable alcohol.

The mouthfeel has a slight crispness/ spark to it that is hard to describe, but I don't belive it is from the carbonation. It is very creamy and full bodied without being too heavy. Oily slick finish.

I don't throw too many 5s around, but when it comes to the feel I am. I can't imagine doing something better. So incredibly balanced and smooth. Overall, it is easily one of the better DIPA s I have ever had. I can see where some people might find it being a little subdued flavor wise, but I am blown away by how balanced it is.

Outstanding beer. Puts up a good fight with the Rajah brothers. Thanks Roger

Here are some tacky sweaters we made for the kids

M- Smooth, light to medium body, carbonation is a little low.

O- A nice Saison from Tired Hands, peaches taste great in the beer. Very happy I was able to pick this up, nicely balanced.

New for me....posting on this thread and what is in hand/mouth...

Really enjoying a 22oz of Drake's Imperial Coffee Stout----hoping for a stronger coffee taste, but the overalll experience/impact is excellent---hint of chocolate smell, nice bitter aftertaste, thick flow across tongue--admirable viscosity...nice ABV impact

and...just because of its epicosity...and title

    Cheers to all....

[IMG] 6% alcohol. Brewed in Utah. I found this beer to have a creamy consistency to the extent that it came across almost as a stout. Strange, but certainly delicious. I bought it at Stein's Deli in New Orleans.

Happy NBS everyone! It's another all local NBS for me. My first new beer of the day was Actual Brewing's Conductor Aged in Bourbon Barrels: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32148/151015/?ba=bluejacket74

I'm usually not a big fan of barrel-aging Imperial IPA's (especially for 6 months), but in this case it worked for this brew. I always like to see new beers from local breweries, and for me Actual Brewing has been pretty solid so far. I'll be back on here in a little while with my next new beer of the day! Cheers!

Hope you don't mind me linking your review, you gave just enough hint about this beer to make me curious to find out about it and lo and behold your review was there, and gave a great description of it. Please let me know if you prefer not to have your reviews linked, but trying and reviewing new beers and linking the reviews is pretty much what we do here, so we can introduce others to what they may also enjoy. Or may not enjoy lol. Anyway, here is your review so everyone can know what this beer is like. Cheers!

    Greetings All:

Watching a defensive slug-fest between the Seahawks and Ram, while enjoying a stout.

Lump Of Coal is surprisingly good. I had this figured for a holiday gimmick beer but it is actually pretty good. Better than I thought it would be.

Sunny and unseasonably warm here on the Columbia Basin. Temps in the low 40's. The forecast is for a cold snap rolling in as early as tomorrow.

    Happy New Year All!
