Hello friends, I'm real late to the party today. It's week number two in the mountains and it's been a fun ride. I awoke bright and early to partake in a 5k run in Denver. It was a well organized event and I finished in the top 1.5% of all participants. Not bad for a flat lander that's getting up in years.

Let's get on to the beer. I stopped at a popular store in Denver called Mr. B's on the drive out to Estes Park today. They've been putting out new beers every day in celebration of the GABF next weekend. Today I spied this lone crowler of Juicy Bits IPA by Weldwerks of Greeley Colorado on the cooler shelf with a sign stating one per customer. I took that as a sign and grabbed it! Let's pour this 32 oz. undated 6.7% can in my Avery snifter/tulip for the review.

It pours a lively, hazy orange juice color with a couple thick fingers of creamy white foam that slowly settles leaving thick lacing in it's wake. The smell is grapefruit, orange zest, floral, a little pine and spice. Taste is juicy grapefruit, orange zest, floral esters and a rye like spice. The feel is creamy and resiny with a slick finish.

A fruity/floral juicy IPA that is loaded with flavor and quite easy to drink. The flavor and feel make it taste and feel like drinking a mimosa. I'm glad I gambled on this purchase! My score is 4.35 / rDev +2.8%.

I'll be back home next week with more time and new beers including the goodies from my NBS sender. I can hardly wait. Have yourselves a great week!

Here's the official scorecard and a photo of this mornings sunrise as I waited in my corral for the race to start.

I enjoyed that last night. An incredibly wonderful use of the Mosaic hop.

Good evening again late night NBS'ers! As usual, and comfortingly predictable, here I am as a potential last post-er for the weekend ritual. It's been one hell of a weekend, and one that I have looked more forward to these past three years than ever. My little girls birthday was yesterday, that little Oktoberfest blessing:grinning:, and Audtoberfest was another huge success! An extra special weekend this time around finding out our newest member due in February is going to be the one and only boy my family will be blessed with from my generation:grimacing:! Exciting times for the Lingenbrau's.

On to the beer. A little bit of a cheat as some of you may have seen my consumption of one earlier this week, however it is still new to me, and this will be a legitimate tasting and review, and as @cavedave had mentioned with the opener, I will be using this post as a "fine ale recommending" "purchase delegator" hoping to sell a few of you on to it:wink:. That being said, Dogfish Head's: Beer to Drink Music To.

Pictured with some lovely Stein Club Sunday swag, this beer pours a lovely crystal clear amber reminiscent of that hue harboring dinosaur eggs from Jurassic Park, along with a tiny white lace uncharacteristical to a traditional Belgian Tripel.

Aroma: Savory and sweet fighting to the death on this one! As advertised, the cardamom shines against an array of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, a touch of anise, and black licorice. (Side note:. Being of Danish decent, cardamom is one of my favorite aromas and flavors as my family has a tradition of making our 100+ year old recipe of Ebelskivers every Christmas:grinning:).

Flavor: Happy to say it follows greatly to the aroma. Nothing is overpowering, and all is unique. Again, not quite traditional to a Tripel, but hey, it's Dogfish Head right? Love the spices and almost get a sage like aftertaste.

Feel: Thin, under carbonated, balanced but favoring sweet. A little sticky and mouth coating, but not unpleasant.

Overall:. I love this beer! However, I love it like my afformentioned Ebelskivers...once in a while, outstanding. Everyday might be a bit too much.

Cheers NBS friends, and I will see you all soon!

    Hellooooo Late Night NBS
A busy, busy weekend here. But finally had a nice day, barely in the 80's, sunny, and cool breezes that took the edge off the bright sunlight. A great day for the pool.

Can't write up much. But I did have a very interesting and tasty beer from Carton courtesy of our own @SammyJaxxxx .

Thanks @jhartley. My son said it reminds him of pils urquell. If you like that one, this one is just a tad more mild and a bit spicier. =) Cheers!

I know it's gonna be hard. I know because I did the same thing for over ten years starting in 1992, just before the birth of my first child of second marriage. It was mainly a money thing on my part that made me agree, but on my wife's part it was seeing me drinking excessively so often that made her worried about my ability to be a good father. She had bought me my first homebrew equipment in effort to see me spend less on the imports I was so enamored of, and drank so excessively. All my friends drank AAL and I ended up to drink all my own batches. Dangerous to have that much beer around when you have little self control. She made me promise to quit, and I did. It is one of the few good things I can say about my bitch ex that post-dates the day of our marriage.

Now I rarely drink to excess and I appreciate beer so much more. Back in the day I was drunk a lot and I admit I drank and drove a lot too, though I denied it back then. Now I make sure not to do that ever. I still take a break every year or so, and in fact that break is coming in the near future, probably right after our group's annual stout tasting (can't miss that). I figure if I can do it for a month every year or two it cleans me out, resets my palate, and let's me know if I am still capable of stopping without ill effect. So far so good.

I appreciate you being so open, and now I have opened too, and I think all of us should be open with ourselves in this same way so we all can go on to properly, healthily, and safely enjoy what is The Golden Age of Fine Beer, likely the finest era for fine beer lovers in the history of the world.

Good luck, man, I think I speak for all of us here when I say that you are to be praised for the realization and decision, and I wish you all the best. Cheers!

Monday morning and once again an epic session of amazing libation has been poured and shared by the NBS Nation, and comes to its close, as all good things must. Too many great beers to even think about listing, especially as I am expecting a beer bomb that has a picture of my porch in its targeting software to be landing this week, and likely there will be no room in the fridge anyway.

Just a reminder that next Sunday is the Big Reveal NBS #4, and I hope to see you all to share in the fun. We'll save a seat for you, count on it.

    Have a great week. Cheers!
