    Brown Ale

    Frost Beer Works
English Brown Ale / 6.50% ABV

    3.96/5 rDev -1% | Score: 4
    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

    canned 10/15/18

L-The beer pours a deep chocolate brown with a two finger tan head. The head recedes to a thin film leaving excellent lacing.
S-The nose is slightly sweet with a subtle maple presence. There is also a roastiness with a bit of alcohol in the finish.
T-First sip hit me with a roasty almost smokey flavor which overwhelmed any sweetness. As I continued to sip some of the other flavors came forward. There is a touch of sweet maple balanced well by some earthy bitterness.
F-Mouthfeel overall is on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation is medium. Carbonation and earthy finish give the beer a slightly dry finish. This is a brown ale I could repeat.
O-A super solid brown ale offering from Frost. Maybe not as sweet as some English brown ales I've had, but certainly within style guidlines. Recommended

Happy Sunday, NBS crew! I’m a bit hungover from last night’s epic share @thebeers place, the highlight of which was @larryi86 wrestling @JBowenGeorgia for...well, I’m not sure what the prize was. Highly entertaining to say the least.

Not only did we share bottles, but there was a “goodie bag” of take-home cans that we all contributed to. You’ll see some of those consumed here today.

@thisischuck01 brought a 4-pack of different Foam beers to the share, but we only managed to open 1 of them. Charles was kind enough to give me this leftover. My first Foam of 2018.

    The Nameless - Foam
    NE IPA - 7% abv
    Canned 10/4/18 (31 days ago)

    Synopsis:
Yet again, Foam delivers an ipa that doesn’t taste like the rest. This reminds me of a passionfruit sour in some ways. It’s not tart, but it has such a strong tropical fruit presence, I can’t believe this has no actual fruit in it. Whatever hop combo they used here is a winner. Thanks again Charles! I hope the other 2 cans are just as good.

Fair warning: I'm not going to be gentle. First time posting here or not.
With that out of the way: Welcome! You killed it. Great descriptions of the brew you're trying there, I was totally along for the experience the whole way, and that's a big part of what NBS is all about, at least for me: second hand experiences in addition to a convivial pub-like shared experience. Welcome aboard!

As I mentioned yesterday, this beer (which I’ve only had once) is my highest rated (and enjoyed) IPA. The mix of classic pith/pine/dank in both nose and taste just hit my palate nearly perfect. Nice to see you enjoy it as well!

Tree House Brewing - Super Typhoon from a 16oz canned on 2018-10-17

A - Hazy straw with a 3-finger off-white head that sticks around leaving great lace.
S - Guava, pineapple, lime, orange, herbal, light cracker. A potpourri of tropical, inviting aroms.
T - Very ripe pineapple, lime, orange Creamsicle, mild pine, crushed/fresh hop bud, herbal and light white pepper spices. There's a mild but present bitterness at first in the finish but this clears quickly. Quite tropical yet balanced with some citrus tartness. Tastes great.
M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. It's smooth, chalky, not too soft and it finishes pretty crisp and refreshing.
O - This beer is one of the best NEIPAs I've had because while hazy and tropical with lowish bitterness, the citrus, spice, light pine and crisp finish put it above most others for my taste preferences. In general, I'd pick a West Coast IPA/DIPA over a NEIPA but this one brings enough of the West Coast element in to really speak to me.

Don't have much experience with Barleywines outside of trying to pick up Behemoth every year and mostly failing. Was just looking for a bottle of something different to try on a rainy cold day. So not sure how much my personal review is gonna help you. I just saw the bottle googled it and beer advocate rated it highly so I grabbed and went. Probably could have grabbed a bomber of something in that price range so i have high expectations for this. $10 for a 12 oz bottle of barleywine is kind of expensive then again i thought of picking up that $30 750ml at FFF the other day.

Thanks @cjgiant for getting the ball rolling. I'm still celebrating the Red Sox victory, the fourth World Series for them this century. It was fun to watch (although I must admit I only watched 14 innings of Game 3). There isn't a better defensive outfield in baseball. And David Price, who has been a punching bag for the Boston media, certainly redeemed himself.
My new beer is one my wife picked up for me while she was doing some grocery shopping, only because she thought I might like it. She also brought home for me a 6 pack of Celebration.
Thank you Jill for Shake, brewed by Boulder Beer Company.
The beer is a dark brown/near black color with some red highlights. There is a small tan head.
Big chocolate aroma, some roasted malt, and a hint of caramel.
Strong chocolate taste up front, followed by some coffee and caramel, finishing with bittersweet chocolate.
    Smooth mouthfeel, very drinkable.
    Highly recommended.

I like Focal more than Heady - actually I like Focal a LOT more than I like Heady, and I like Heady a lot.

PS: Focal would be my highest rated IPA if King Sue from Toppling Goliath hadn't been reclassified as a New England IPA from the DIPA it's self-described as .....

Long live the King. King Sue that is. Her ferocious bite will make sure all newcomers learn to toe the line. And what better way to exude her influence than with this Citra Hopped Double IPA. Followers will cheer. Enemies will crumble. But don’t take her lightly, because when this double IPA is on a rampage, nothing will stand in her way…

Have I mentioned lately how much I dislike the addition of "New England IPA" as a style? I understand why it was done, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
