Today's breakfast beer comes from @Ozzylizard
    [IMG]
Appearance on the pour is a semi-translucent cola brown, settling to a deep opaque brown in the glass. Small amount of fizzy short-lived head. Aroma is overpoweringly sweet cherry, and is extremely one-dimensional. Taste brings a little more depth with some light bitterness behind the cherry, but overall the cherry seems overpowering and has an unnatural cough syrup quality. Overall, while I've really enjoyed the Hoppin' Frog beers I've had to this point, this one is a miss for me.

Congratulations. There are few better feelings in life than when a move is finally completed. Moves stress me out terribly. Cheers!

Looks like an awesome set up right there @FBarber, congratulations on accomplishing what I'm sure was an incredibly stressful and long experience. Now beers and rest, but unfortunately no World Series Celebration :frowning2:

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass bottled on 9/20/22. Pours a very dark mahogany with a2 plus finger sticky white head that leaves thin lines of lace with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma is maple, vanilla, cinnamon, toffee, and a little hint of bourbon. 4.5

Taste follows maple, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, and just the smallest hint oaked bourbon in the lingering finish. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, maybe a tad dry and it works well, gentle carbonation, and at 11.1% massive flavor but easy going down for its size. 4.5

Overall this one will be in my fridge often, really digging this sauce. 4.5

Good morning BAs! Today’s new beer is really new…it was released at the brewery yesterday where did a taste and bought bottles to bring home - Cycle Brewing’s “BA SZN - Chocolate Orange” a 3 years barrel aged imperial stout with chocolate and orange. The base is Cycles DOS, aged in Heaven Hill, Woodford, and Buffalo Trace barrels. I was told at the brewery that the abv is 12%. One of my favorite flavors in stouts is orange. My understanding is that it is a difficult beer to make, one rarely sees them, and in my experience they should be drank fresh as orange fades fairly quickly. All that said, let’s go:

Purchased at Brewery 11/5/22 on day of release. Poured at 54°. Black with ruby edges; tight light brown head; ok cap retention; solid ring; some sudsy lace; medium thick legs. Orange Cointreau nose followed by chocolate; boozy exhale. Taste is semi sweet chocolate, orange liqueur, bitter orange peel, bourbon with a mild oaky finish. Silky smooth feel; heat in mouth from 12% abv; medium plus body; light carbonation. Overall outstanding; this beer is like drinking chocolate orange candy at Christmas with a little bourbon. Well done.

    4.5 | 4.5 | 4.75 | 4.5 | 4.5
Score: 4.6 rDev 0. Mine is first review.

My bottle share buddies liked a couple of the other new release variants better yesterday; I need to go back to the brewery to conduct further research  And all liked the new 11.2 oz bottle format vs. the usual 22oz bomber bottles.

    BA rating/review #999 for me…Cheers!

[IMG] Trying a delicious winter warmer this morning from Boundary Bay courtesy of @BBThunderbolt

Pours a nice cola brown, ruby hues in the light. A two finger mocha head rises and falls to a stiff ring with good retention. Nose is cinnamon, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, and baked bread. Maybe some subtle all spice like notes in the background which come through better on the tongue. Feel is full but not mouthcoating. Overall, a delicious spicy seasonal ale, perfect for today. 4/5

Congratulations on surviving the move. That can be incredibly stressful, so I imagine a well earned beer at the end of that was very satisfying.

Today's new beer is one sent to me by @Manta200. Happy Amber is a 2018 Gold Medal winner at the GABF.
The beer is a dark amber color with a medium-size off-white head.
    Aroma of caramel and bread.
Taste of caramel, biscuit. Late hop bitterness.
    Medium-bodied. The bitterness was unexpected.

    Thanks Hans!

Is that Cabin Fever? I haven't seen it in my end of Washington since they've put it into 12oz cans and updated the label.

Good morning NBS/nbw and thanks @Mdog for hosting this weekend.
Todays offering is from Bunker Brewing in Portland ME. I would like to start with the fact a packaged English Pub Ale (Bitter) in the reatil space is like finding a unicorn in the beer isle.
This one is so very good, water treatment is just right, English grain bll and Kent Goldings all true to form. At 4.3% its and easy, tasty, treat, one worth seaking out.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 10/15/22, so 3 weeks fresh.
A - Beautful cascading toward the bottom pour, full Nitro affect, lasting creamy off whte cap during the experience.
Dark straw color, with a touch of haze, a beauty in the glass.
S - Earthy grains, a touch of caramel, warm wheat toast. Hops are Kent Goldngs so threads of grass, and hint of citrus.
T - Right down the middle, light brown sugar, toasted grain, bisquit, earthy hops. all in the mix
M - Medium n body, creamy texture, on the sweet side of the scale, but just barely. Excellent hop bite to keep hings moving toward a pleasantly dry finish. Best tasting burps in a long time!
O - A very good pub bitter, I hope that the brewer keeps this in its porfolio.
I certainly will keep it in mine

Beer Advocate beer rating/review #1000 - Bourbon County Double Barrel Brand Toasted Barrel Stout (2021). Aged one year in Elijah Craig’s Small Batch Bourbon Barrels, then one year in Elijah Craig’s Toasted Bourbon Barrels:

Poured at 54°. Black body with a deep dark edge and good clarity under fast fizzy dark tan head which disappeared quickly leaving no cap retention but a solid ring and spots of lace, especially on agitation; thick legs on swirl. Nose is toasted marshmallow, bourbon and strong vanilla; sweet bourbon in the retro nasal. Vanilla and toasted marshmallow entry, some char, oak, chocolate and caramel; bourbon ever present; vanilla tootsie roll finish. Alcohol burn on tip of tongue; face flushing warmth from 16% abv; smooth rich velvety feel; almost full body, not adjuncty, just viscous with medium heft. Overall, an OMG beer for me; boozy yet balanced base and barrel flavors; love the charred oak and spicy bourbon notes; surprised and awed by how much vanilla aroma and flavor presents; layers of flavors which are both intense and complimentary.

This afternoon’s beer comes courtesy of @Whyteboar from a LIF associated with a previous iteration of the NBW BIF. Jolly Pumpkin Oro.

(On a side note, everyone participating in this thread should consider joining the next NBW BIF. It’s populated with very generous beer sharers who tend to send far more beer out than any man or woman really needs but most certainly wants. They even welcomed this ‘furriner’ into the mix a while back. I’m still working through the many beers I’ve been sent over the years.)

Pours a bright effervescent gold with substantial head that is well retained. A light head remains as the beer is consumed.

Spicy, peppery nose with a little funk and lemony quality in the background.

Taste follows. Peppery punch to start the sip. Some citrus notes follow with a tart funky finish.

Lighter body. Refreshing. There is a slightly creamy quality to this beer that I quite liked.

Thanks for this one. I’m sorry it took me so long to get to. We used to get Jolly Pumpkin up here, but I haven’t seen it in years. Cheers!
