Turoni's Pizzery & Brewery -- A Face In The Crowd
    Czech dark lager
ABV: 5.1%; pouring temperature: n/a; tap info: at the Newburgh location

    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Impressions from visiting the Newburgh, IN location:

Nice dark body with a decent head, dense and creamy. Not much aroma. Taste was light and subdued. Medium / medium-light body; smooth.

I was busy with conversation, so didn't spend much time critiquing the beer. It was good, but not as impressive as their 'The Gray Lady' pale ale. This beer was labeled as a Czech dark lager on the restaurant's beer menu.

Been absent a few weeks. Had to come back at it - especially since this beer rocks.
Mast Landing Pantless Thunder Goose DIPA.
Pours a hazy yellow gold a nice creamy white 3 finger head with tons of sticky lacing.
Huge tropical aroma of mango, pineapple. Tangerine, peach and hints of pine.
Taste follows with mango, stonefruit, dark berries, pine and citrus bitterness. Ripe and mouth watering juiciness with some peaks of crushed grape skins. Light toasty pilsner malt balances.
Medium/Light body. Drying lip smacking hoppy finish. Excellent tiny carb throughout thats highly drinkable and almost quenching for the unnoticeable 8.3% abv.
Lucky to see this in a place I rarely go.
    Just an excellent DIPA IMHO.
    Worth seeking out for sure.
Cheers NBS! I will be scrolling through...[IMG]

    Last one of the weekend.

    Stonehooker Victoria English Pale Ale.

Pours a medium amber with ample head that has great retention. Substantial, lovely lacing as the beer is consumed.

Light floral hop aromas. A little bready. A hint of caramel.

Taste follows. Floral and herbal notes up front. Mildly bitter.

    Medium body. Creamy mouth.

This is a decent English pale ale. Better than most of the Stonehooker beers I’ve had. I likely wouldn’t seek it out again though.

    Cheers!

I've had the pleasure of enjoying 128 different beers from Sierra Nevada and had no idea they had a society. I must find out what one needs to do to join their society.

American Soler Let's Gose Girls, 4.5% ABV; 3.65 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with 2 fingers of eggshell colored head. No head retention or lacing

    S: Saltyness, grassyness

T: Follows the nose a little lemon & coriander as well, plus a little tart lime.
Dryness, saltyness, tart lemon & a little coriander as this warms. Finishes dry, tart & salty

    MF: Medium body, delicate carbonation

Serviceable take on the style, but nothing new either, drinkable enough

Today, after watching the Seahawks win and a subsequent dinner of teriyaki meatballs, I had myself a liquid dessert, one I'd forgotten from the previous NBS/NBW BIF, courtesy of @Rub_This_BBQ.

Not only was it delicious, having been aged in Elijah Craig barrels, but also intriguing, as there is no abv listed. I had always assumed that abv was required to be listed on a beer's label.

For a brewery renowned for their IPAs. I have come to feel their stouts deserve just as much renown. Thanks, @Rub_This_BBQ!

    Thanks!
We hired movers this time (for the first time in my life) and it was worth every penny.
Just need to finish unpacking, but so happy to be getting settled!
    Thanks!

LMAO! if I had that house I would host our Midwest beer share for sure ... as it is, my family room is pretty spacious though, so come on over.

Thread still open? Yay! I've got another new one.

Avery Brewing Co. - Night Warden. Whiskey Barrel-Aged Stout. 8.2% ABV.

Smells like malted milk balls, dark chocolate, whiskey, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla. Excellent aroma on this one.

The taste follows the nose pretty well. Dark and milk chocolate candies, malted milk balls, butterscotch/toffee; the whiskey is more subtle on the taste than the aroma, but it's there--caramel and vanilla.

My only complaint here is the mouthfeel. I understand and kind of appreciate the fact that it's a more sessionable take on a barrel aged stout, (because most BA beer tends to be like 14% these days) but the mouthfeel is dang thin and watery. It drinks more like -5% percent.

That's a bit of a mind twist as the glass you used was from New Holland, which *also* has a brown that they named Cabin Fever, which is also a good beer.
Right, isn't this thread locked yet? :stuck_out_tongue:
