Dark brown body, crystal clear; good carbonation; relatively thin head yet lasting and sticky; decent rings of foam around the glass. Malty aroma with a bit of aged chili pepper scent. Fair enough malty flavor; a bit of light brown sugar. Thin to medium body; smooth and soft; delicate chili pepper warmth.

Without a doubt, I need to check this beer out again but with a fresh version. This relatively ancient version indicates some great potential. Lightly sweet nose with a suggestion of old chili pepper. Fairly tasty with a decent malt base and a note of chili flavor.

Drekker There Will Be Prrrt Monkey Tail Milkshake Beer "sour", 6.9% ABV. Pours very thick and light brown with a seven finger gushing head. Nose is banana and chocolate ice cream. Taste follows, plus peanut butter, quite sweet, can't detect any sourness. Excellent creamy mouthfeel, overall outstanding. This is a bookend to the Drekker eggnog "sour" I had last night.

@GreenBayBA here's another gusher to try. Nose wasn't real strong, but taste is outstanding. You don't find a lot of gushers in the wild, so it's a special treat.

Had a Christmas themed new to be beer in mind, but the Keg Kicked before I got here. This may be a one off or perhaps if it sells something they will package down the road.

    Revolution Brewing Cold Time

Brewery Notes: $6 + tax 16 oz draft, 4.9% ABV. Lager - American

Appearance: 16 oz draft nonic pour. Clear golden straw base, faint trickling carbonation, bright white creamy head leaves fine lacing. 4.25

    Aroma:
Faint honey and Wonder bread. 3.5

    Taste:
Really getting a nice honey taste, texture and flavor front and center. It is one of my favorite flavors, love when I can find honey flavored beers, especially well brewed like this one. Nice grain malt, bread, though more wheat, no Wonder. Hops pwn the malt, but the malty 2 row hop flavor is great as well. Sounds simple, and to my tastes it is, but simplicity packed with enjoyable flavors. Really digging this. 4.5

    Mouthfeel:
Fizzy persistent adds depth to this light to medium body. Honey very rich and creamy, also adds depth and creaminess. Drinks at the ABV, carbonation heavy which is slowing me down from gulping this all down in a few attempts. Honey lingers in the aftertaste. 4.75

    Overall:
Remember that time they tapped Cold Time at Revolution? That was awesome. Really need to keep this as a rotational offering. It’s so good. Beyond Honey Jacket, I don’t recall coming across other honey beers from this brewery. If you are a fan of honey, this beer is a must. If you just like honey, the traditional malt taste is great as well and will keep you interest. 4.75

@GuyFawkes - Thanks for adding this beer, your taste notes pulled me in to try.

Brouwerij Huyghe - Delirium Noël (Christmas)

Belgian Strong Dark Ale from Belgium (10%).

Pours a clear, reddish amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of caramel malt and red/dark fruit, with notes of plum, cherry and cranberry, as well as some candi sugar also coming through.

Taste is a good balance of caramel malt, dark/red fruit, with notes of plum, cherry and cranberry and estery fruit and spice, with notes of red apple, apricot and clove. Finishes with a medium sweetness, light bitterness and some dark/red and estery fruit notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation.

The reviews for this are kinda polarizing and although I didn't end up loving this, it wasn't as bad as I expected either. I was mainly worried about this being too sweet and boozy, which it really isn't at all and I kinda like the mix of dark/red and estery fruit here, although I wish the spice would come through a little more intensely, while I'm also not too keen on those dominant cherry and candi sugar notes. There's a subtle bitterness in the finish that balances this out nicely eough though, with some clove and allspice also making a good impression.

Cheers to @ovaltine for this Seipp's Extra Pale Pre-Prohibition Pilsner, 4.5% ABV; 3.91 overall

Pours a fairly bright gold with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Soapy & perfumy hops, some grainy notes

Follows the nose, grainy bitterness, sweet breadyness, some grassy & lime notes as well up front. Bready & lemon notes as this beer warms, along with a little grainyness & soapy hops along with dryness as this beer warms up. Finishes dry, grassy with a little grainy & bready sweetness, plus a touch of soapyness

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, pretty good balance

Drinks super easy, very true to the style, solid take on the style

Good to see they are still putting out some good beers. They are Colorado Spring's OG Brewers as far as I know.

So, earlier I talked about not being a gamer, despite the fact that I've played a lot of games. This beer is in a similar vein, thematically, in that I've never been one who's actually done a bunch of spending my time at a record store diggin' in the crates (RIP Big L), but music has been a huge part of my life for, well, my whole life. Hip hop in particular is a genre in which I've spent a lot of time, so this label etc really speaks to me. But there were no record stores anywhere near me growing up so I never got in the habit, and by the time I was old enough and stable enough to have the opportunities, the time to really get into it had kind of passed me by (as much as something like that can pass one by).
Anyway, @Beersnake1 sent this beer my way as part of his return fire during the BIF, and I've been excited to crack into it ever since, as a result of all the stuff mentioned above.

(can you guess which records came from me and which from my wife?)

    Monkish - Diggin' and Diggin'

The pour is a pale milky orange. Very light coloured, and honestly it almost feels like it glows in its own right. The head is soft and white, and as it settles to the typical light fuzz and a velvety ring around the edge, leaving nice lacing around the glass as I sip.

The nose bursts as soon as I pop the can. Sweet orange juice, reminiscient of Tang. Diggin' in further it's a melange of sweet citrus fruits. Some pulpy pineapple, a touch of peach, some orange, and a lot that I can't tease out individually. Bright and sweet.

Flavour follows in similar footsteps. It's mostly big sweet citrus fruit up front, the malts shine through a little here as well, and they are more of the grainy variety. The finish builds into a pithy pithy bitter ending, that's all citric acid straight chewing on the rind bitter. I must say, I don't remember the last time I had any beers that captured the essence of pith/citrus rind as well as these Monkish brews Tim sent up.

Thanks for sharing these with me, Tim, and cheers!!

    Kitka Chocolate Coconut Milk Stout
    [IMG]
    5.75% stout by Brew Kettle

Poured from tap at the brewery. the body pours a dark brown with a good head. Modest lacing.

The aroma s taste are basically the same. The stout has a definite sweetness from the milk sugar and added chocolate. The coconut flakes only add a low key flavor. The mix is an easy drinkable stout

Carbonation is good but I'd prefer a chewier mouthfeel. A tad thin considering all that's in the beer.

Overall a solid winter stout that would be interesting to try if barrel aged.

I enjoyed visiting the Phantom Canyon but my most 'memorable' place is the Golden Bee at the Broadmoar.

    Cheers to the Golden Bee!

...why is that...???...did you get a bee thrown at you that stuck to your fish 'n' chips...???...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

...for those that don't know, the 'Golden Bee' is a pub at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs...the pub interior was essentially transferred from England panel-by-panel...the staff used to (still do?) throw embroidered bees with sticky backing onto your clothing...it used to be a great place for fish 'n' chips but the last several times (it's been about 5-6 years since Mrs. BeerGoot and I last were there), they weren't very good...

It was a very long time ago when I visited the Golden Bee (20+ years ago). I did not get a bee tossed at me but I did enjoy several English (style?) beers and whatever I ate I enjoyed that too.

    Cheers!

...their beer selection is pretty crappy now...their reubens used to be pretty tasty...hope they haven't gone down the path of their fish 'n' chips (too garlicky the last couple of times we were there, but as mentioned earlier, it's been at least 5-6 years since we've been there...still, for a 5-star hotel, one would expect better food and beverages...seems like Mrs. BG and I need to re-visit and re-evaluate things...

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz chalet glass bottled in April. Pours near pitch black with a half finger sticky brown head. 4.5

Aroma is deep dark chocolate, coffee grounds, vanilla, woody oak, dark fruit, and whisky. 4

Taste follows dark chocolate, expresso, vanilla, dates, and oaked whiskey. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than average, soft gentle carbonation, maybe a tad dry and at 12% it is a sipper that is surprisingly approachable. 4

Overall I am digging this one and would definitely recommend this one from Liquid Riot Bottling Company. 4.25 Sleep well all.

Prairie Super Pistache Bros. BA Stout, 13.4% ABV; 4.19 overall

Pours a very effervescent ebony with a rapidly failing caramel colored head. Viscous, zero head retention & lacing

    S: Dark chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts

T: All of the above, plus dryness, some pistachio notes up front, a little warming booze as well. Super fudgy as this beer warms, some barrel notes, vanilla & hazelnuts, plus dryness & some cola notes. Finishes with barrel dryness/boozeyness, hazelnut & chocolate & just a little coffee

MF: Medium/chewy body, very low carbonation, warming

I spoke with their tap room manager Dylan, and he corrected my OG take that there was honey in this beer. The honey flavor is strictly derived from the 2 row malt and barley used. Honey was not used, neither was any adjuncts (corn, rice) in the brewing of this beer.

He also confirmed they brewed 30 kegs for each of their locations, and it has received great feedback both from employees and also folks who take the tour and sample a draft. I’m hopeful this is packaged at some point, perhaps a replacement for Cross of Gold.

@FBarber - This is as or perhaps better than Dovetail Lagers I’ve enjoyed. You will likely like this a lot.
