As the artwork is an obvious nod to the Wu-Tang Clan's song "Protect Ya Neck"...yeah, you got it wrong.

I requested an update in the database because I'm a true hero. /s

Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Oil of Aphrodite, thanks to @Ozzylizard and NBS BIF #17

375ml bottle served in a WABL sample glass. This bottle says it's 12.5%, and doesn't appear to have a date other than 2023. Probably serving it a bit too cold, it'll warm up as I slowly review and drink this.

Pours opaque black-brown with zero head on the pour, and just the scantiest ring and dusting across the surface that you can imagine. Smell is booze and roast, an echo of vanilla and sweetness.

Taste is pretty hot -- lots of booze, a lot of barrel character overall, vanilla and wood and char. Some dark molasses sweetness, I don't get anything directly nutty but there is something that makes me think of roasted nuts.

Mouthfeel is thick, chewy, a little sticky, rich, satisfying. Overall, this is a very good beer.

Doing some de-cluttering by running some old clothes to Goodwill on the South Hill, I decided to stop by Perry Street Brewing on the way home and wound up having a couple of beers that were new to me.
First I had their German Helles:

Nice Helles. Pretty much nailed the style, apart from being a teensy bit chill hazed.

Followed with a Hat Trick Saison (a collab between PSB and not-quite-open Hat Trick Brewing), with a Ha Noi Burrito in the foreground.
Nice saison. Not too big at 5.7% abv and went well with both the burrito and the weather (high 80s).

That label kind of has a Stereolab "Dots and Loops" feel to it. Like it.

Stonecloud Bring ZIPP! Coffee Infused milk Stout, 6.1% ABV; 3.95 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a pinky of tan head. Traces of head retention & lacing

    S: Coffee & vanilla

T: Plenty of coffee, dryness, some roasty notes, a touch of cocoa up front. Lots of dryness, coffee fading a bit, more roasty, kisses of vanilla & hazelnuts, some woody hop notes once this beer warms up. Finishes fairly roasty, a little dry with latte' notes

    MF: Medium body, prickly carbonation

Very solid for the style, but not a fan of the style I am love with unless perfect

Don't know when this thread shuts down, but I'm going to try and sneak in one more for New Beer Weekend #150.

Looking through my past few posts, it seems I've been reviewing German lagers and IPAs and other fairly light styles. I do appreciate those, but I also enjoy a nice big barrel-aged behemoth. And on Friday night I opened one rather late which I ended up finishing on Saturday.

ForeLand Beer is a fairly new brewery in Oregon. They've made a good name for themselves with excellent IPAs and really well done traditional German beers (including a terrific smoked helles). They've also done a noteworthy Baltic Porter and some excellent English cask ales at their taprooms.

A couple weekends ago I stumbled across cans of ForeLand Cast Shadow Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, so naturally I nabbed a couple.

Let's cut to the chase: This beer is a BEAST.

Inky black with an oily texture, this beer has huge whiskey barrel character and densely layered flavors of roasted malt, high-percentage cacao dark chocolate, dried prunes and figs, molasses, marshmallows, coffee, malted milk balls, vanilla nougat, and a puzzling salty note.

A terrific slow sipper, and a great way to end a New Beer day.

    Hello Late Night NBW.
    Mystery Beer from @FBarber.
I must do this justice after my abysmally absent minded mystery beer-was-was-not mishap earlier.

16 oz can poured into my Creature Comforts Becher glass. Nearly see through, golden hued, and active. A steady stream of minuscule bubbles are constant contributors to the bountiful, fluffy white head. Great retention with lots of clumpy lacing.
Nose is a mix of pine needles, green grass, undertones of green onions, light dank, and maybe hints of bubblegum and/or blueberries.
The flavor is less piney, and more weed and grass leaning. Not too strong and a bit on the dry and bitter side.
So I'm guessing IPA. Will sip a tad more.

Glad to hear the patient is on the upswing, or at least swinging a margarita glass.

Well this is another Phase Three offering.
    Terpasaurus a DIPA with terpenes.

So I'm wondering if the terpenes added a bit of that bright berry note that coupled with the light dankness. Pretty good stuff.

    Thanks, @FBarber
