Sierra Nevada RAD LittleThing IPA. 7.0% ABV; 4.06 overall

Pours a somewhat effervescent & hazed gold with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Stays hazy, very good head retention & better lacing

S: Passion fruit, green melon, traces of tangerine

T: Some citrus, pomelo, dryness & passion fruit up front. Pears, green melons & pine mix with dryness once warmed up, a little grapefruit too. Finishes strong on pink grapefruit, a little dry, some white grape skins & a little guava

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, good balance

The more this warmed up, the more it stated its case. Not great but drinkable enough & will work as a year-round IPA

Kros Strain - Double Barrel Imperial Stout

16oz can served in a snulip. Can is dated, but date is completely illegible. Got it from @bbtkd in Stout/Barleywine BIF #2.

Pours black with a biggish (1.5cm) dark brown head on the pour, settling into a fluffy thick ring with a big, smooth island in the middle. Smell is huge -- rich and nutty, coffee and chocolate, bourbon and vanilla and molasses, maybe raisins or dates.

Taste is right in the same direction, more dates and more bitter coffee, creamy sweetness and clear vanilla, chocolate and coffee and vanilla just screaming throughout. Booze is noticeable, but not a headliner -- just undeniable. Burnt, roasty bread.

Mouthfeel is thick and velvety. This beer is lovely.

Xpost with the drunkards over at WBAYDN; I use "drunkards" in the non-perjorative tense.

Great west coast style though I've always been partial to the Karl Strauss line of beers. Great sweet pine aroma and bitterness. A great looking & tasting beer even at 5+ months.

Look, man, if you're going to call me a drunkard, I'd at least like it to have a capital letter or a ribbon or something. Classy MFing drunkard right here. Respect!

Look, no disrespect, but the APA/Wikipedia style guide clearly indicates "drunkard" is spelled with a lower case "d". Sorry but not my rules and nothing can be done at this point.

    Compromise: "drunkarD"

It's a "d" and part of the word "drunkard" and believe I could get away with the technicality if the APA/Wiki overlords were ever to audit this site.

    Otherwise, agree to disagree.

That looks like a great space, thanks for sharing. I've only had one similar experience, Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids, the space built out from a prior funeral home. The beers are good to very good via my limited experience, my favorite space and place during my brief visit last year.

    Wildair beerworks rotbier red lager.
    ....dark caramel amber appearance
...medium carbonation with a medium body as well
...aroma is herbal, earthy, grainy bread with malt
...taste has a very mild but pleasing sweetness which is stronger than the aroma hinted at. Malty grainy bread, with some earthy vegetation.
....overall a really well done beer that gets better and more complex as it warms[IMG]

Happy Stouterday. I have another one that @Resistance88 sent me a little while ago and I *was* saving it for a Speedway SAN but we needed to keep them lower ABV so…
    [IMG]
The pour is stout black with a half inch of dense, light brown head that left rings of lacing.
The taste is full of coffee (it’s Speedway after all) and a little maple syrup. More roast than expected, guess I was thinking it would be a CBS clone but not even close. Lots of roast.
The feel is nicely viscous. Excellent sipping beer.
OA, roastier than the other three and a nice addition to the collection.
    Thanks Thomas

    Happy March Madness!
Not a great start but better than one of my brackets...

    Butchers of America
    16 oz can sans date.
Pretty. Muted gold in color with a fluffy white cap that asserts about 2 inches before slowly settling down to a sold film. Good retention and generous cloudy curtains of lacing.
Nose is timid with some citrus zest and a hint of stone fruit.
Flavor starts off with an earthy bitter orange rind followed by some grass and herbal pepper. A slight honey malt peeks in for a split second but surrenders to the bitterness.
Mouthfeel is spot on for style, light to medium heft, great carbonation level keeps things moving, and the finish is a smooth bitter drop off.

    Jacks abby modern pils
    ....semi clear pale gold appearance
...close to medium carbonation with about a medium body
...aroma isn't too overpowering but theres yeast, some sort of candy, mild grain and cereal in the background
...taste definitely has a sweetness to it,like someone dropped a piece of candy in the glass.
    There's grain,malt,cereal and bread.
..overall there's a fair amount going on and not sure what modern means but its very interesting in a very good way[IMG]

Mahalo to @Stoutofmymind for this Ohio Gem. This is via the NBW Imp Stout/Barleywine BIF#2

Wolf's Ridge Brewing 17YR Dickel Lil' Nippert Bourbon Barrel Barleywine ( English ), 14.3% ABV; 4.38 overall edit; after letting it open up a 4.75 taste score

Jan 2023 Bottle pours an effervescent Chesnut hued Mahogany with a pinky of mocha colored head. Some lacing & head retention

S: Deep Whiskey Barrel notes, dark fruit, molasses, fades a touch once warm

T: Follows the nose, so much oakyness, a little leafy hop & toffee notes up front. Sweet Bourbon notes, oaky dryness, figs a little raisin & leafy hops once warmed up, hints of maple candy. Sweet toffee, notes plenty of Bourbon, faint leafy & woody hops in the dry finish, brown sugar in abundance

MF: Chewy, but with enough carbonation to push it along, warming. Body thins out a bit once warm, sticky

This beer commands respect & sips, lots to like here

First beer of tonight is from @Resistance88 ! Thank you! Big box of brews came to my house the other day. Time to start emptying em! This is Heater Allen Brewing Co in McMinnville, Oregon and their Sandy Paws Baltic Porter. A 7.7% beer that maybe features a new dog on the label each year? Date stamp also says all dogs are good dogs!

    onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a stemless tulip snifter. Date Stamp is 11/15/2024.
The beer pours a rich cola brown color and a fluffy beige head foams up about 2 cm. There is no light passing through my glass and the foam fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. Some scattered lattice when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is some dark chocolate and roasted malt notes with not much else. No hops nor any booze hints on the aroma.
First sip reveals a medium to light body and this beer drinks pretty easy. Carbonation is medium and tingly and there is surprisingly a little bit of a coating with each sip of beer.
Flavor is similar to the nose with dark chocolate and roasted malts, but here I also get a little spicy anice. But still no hop notes nor booze. I get a little dark fruit , plums and raisins, as the beer warms up a bit. Overall, its highly drinkable and interesting enough beer. Doesnt blow me away, but fits to style nicely. Glad to have tried this one.

From my stopover at Glacier earlier while out running errands..

    Glacier Brewing - Winter Warmer

    Notes:
P clear copper/chestnut, tiny white cap, light lace left behind
N very soft bready malt & dark sugars; gets a touch bolder as warms, but not much
T light med bready malt forward, a little toastiness, pine and lots of leafy bitterness in the fin, lingers, 8.5% abv well hidden, more cohesive as it warms
Mf light med to med bod, med to med high carb, coating finish
O decent, although a bit lackluster; comes off more like a mild American barleywine instead of a winter warmer (which isnt necessarily bad); grew on me as it warmed, more caramelized dark sugars to balance out the leafy notes

    Cheers!

Dropping one of my gifts from @muchloveforhops3 here with y'all tonight. Thank you for the opportunity!!
This is Crux Fermentation Project in Bend, Oregon and their Lost Love Barrel Aged Rye Imperial Stout. 14% ABV on this beer.

    onto my review:

I am sampling a 500 ml bottle at cellar temp and poured into my trusty snifter. The beer was bottled on 1/10/2023.
Beer pours dark as night with no light passing through and looks very viscous as it leaves the bottle. A dense tan head of about 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy surface covering that remains throughout my sampling tonight. I get dense lattice on the glass with each sip or swirl.
Aroma is some fudge and roasted malt and a big dose of rye whiskey, not sweet at all, sort of spicy or toated grain notes. Only a little black pepper spiciness gives hint to the booze level of this beer.
First sip reveals a big , full bodied beer with fine and gentle carbonation, texture is smooth but definitely some coating on my palate with each sip. Flavor is dark fudge, high cacao chocolate and a good hit of rye whisky. here i get some smokey notes and spicy whisky that carries the profile. Lingers after each sip and also reveals some warmth on the swallow. Never any hop character on this bold beer. Im gonna be sipping this one for the rest of the evening I believe. Nice big whisky influenced stout. Glad to have tried this one.
