I guess this changed at the first of this year. I bought a 6 pack of Torpedo today with 013014C108:24 or January 30th 2014. Last years Celebration reads 329616:41 or October 23, 2013. New code much easier to read.

Check out the bottom of the back of the label, there should be an even easier to decipher code  My Bigfoot has 12/12/2013 on the back.

I always just divide the Julian date by 30 in my head.

Say it's 281. I know 9x30=270, so that means it was bottled around the 11th day of October

A problem with Julian dating is the inconsistent use by different breweries. Some put the number for the year before the day #, some put it after. This can cause confusion. Then there's the kind of rare situation I posted a thread about here a while ago, regarding a Julian date (3013) that could be interpreted multiple ways. Of course this can only happen 1 year every decade, but it's totally avoidable if all breweries used standardized mm/dd/yyyy.

Don't look quite yet. Some bottles have this code, some don't. We're in the process of changing everything over to this new look with an easy to ready date, but it's been a bit trickier than we thought. Hang tight though. Soon, we'll have it consistent and on all of our bottles. I'll let you know when the full switch-over is a go.

My wife and I both thank you. She drinks Torpedo and could never quite figure it out. She always calls me at work when she's in the store to ask me what the bottling date is.
