Hi, I am new to kegerators and just ordered this setup from beverage factory and just wondering if I should have gotten something else. Money is not an issue and I wanted to have the best setup I could buy. I believe firmly in buy quality the first time and it will save money in the long run. I just want to know if anyone sees any potential problems with this setup while I can still cancel items and buy something else or if there is anything else I need. I got a Beverage Air BM23-S-31 with two faucet Kegco brushed stainless steel tower and 2 Perlick 650SS Flow Control Faucets, Micromatic Premium Series Dual Primary C02 Regulator, 2 Kegco D-Couplers with ergonomic handle and stainless steel probe, 6 ft of 5/16in red ID vinyl gas line, kegco worm drive clamps. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the kegco products and if they are any good or not or should I cancel that stuff and buy another brand? Thanks
Kegco is solid. BevAir is top of the line. Micromatic is pricey but excellent quality. I'd say you are good to go.
That rig will be around for you to give to your kids. Quite possibly grandkids too, and no that is not hyperbole. Get yourself a cleaning kit too. You do need to periodically clean the system. It's not hard. Check to see how much 3/16" "choker" they ship with. Opinions vary, but you want about 6' for home use. If you are getting 4' you will want to order a length of 3/16" ID x 7/16" OD beverage line. Get 25' and you will have enough to swap it out a few times. Even with regular cleaning the line will need to eventually be replaced. Cheers.
Ok, I'm waiting for the kegerator, I purchased it from etundra.com after beverage factory said it will take 3 weeks to get after arguing with etundra they have agreed to have it shipped to a residence instead of a commercial address. I did decide to change to micromatic stainless steel couplers and I went ahead and bought a 100' spool of micromatic 3/16 beer line since I will need to change them anyway at some point, I figured I'd just buy enough for several years. I also got the pressurized cleaning kit from micromatic. Once I get it I'm sure I will be back to ask more questions and get help getting it dialed in. Thanks
Here's two pretty good links of the problems (and solutions) others have had with new kegerators: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/foaming.193492/ https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/help-with-balancing-my-system.248243/ A suggestion; don't tell anyone you are getting a kegerator until it's pouring smoothly as this will reduce the pressure on you (pun intended). If you have no problems, budget about a week to get it balanced. You didn't ask, but the best time to fix your CO2 leaks is before you have beer at risk . . . tons of threads on leak troubleshooting.
