    Hi Brian,

Get together a list of the specific brews that you have available and the specific beers you are ISO. Then post in the trade forums. Its usually good to start small and try the locals or $4$ section.

One thing you may find that causes an issue is the shipping between the US and Canada. A lot of people do it, but it can be costly. I know some people from Canada that have people ship to a location over the border in the US to make it easier for trade partners.

This is helpful for new traders:

    Hi Brian.

If you are looking to trade within Canada, the Beer Advocate forums are not as good as they once were. You’ll have much more luck on the big Canada Facebook group. If you venture over to the Canadian forums, you will find threads for the CANBIF, which is a sort of group blind trade. It can be a good way of getting started. A look at the most recent one will give you an idea of what is expected.

If you have access to the Barncat releases, you should have no trouble finding trade partners. Similarly, Badlands and special releases from Burdock and Bellwoods. Not mush else from Ontario trades very well at the moment.

If you are looking to trade to the US, be forewarned, it is pricy, and incoming boxes run a big risk of getting seized at customs. If you have a mailbox in the States, or a friend who can receive for you, it can open things up. That said, there is little knowledge of the better Canadian beers down there. Despite being on par with the better IPAs available south of the border, almost no one has ever heard of Barncat or Badlands, etc.

    Good luck with your trading.

    To add,

The majority of my trades to the US (95%) are of bourbon for beer. A lot of mid level bourbon that is difficult to get in some parts of the US is easy to get in Ontario, and often for a lower price than south of the border. For example, I’ve traded bourbon to Kentucky because the bottles in question were difficult/impossible to find there, and when found cost much more than I pay up here.

There are likely 100 bottles or more of Weller Antique 107 sitting on shelves in the Kitchener Waterloo area right now. I trade that south all the time for good stouts and sours.
