Is there a kid friendly restaurant with a decent tap offering? Most likely for dinner. Also, I've had decent luck at Cellar Wine & Spirits. Any other bottle shops I need to hit? TIA
The Abner and Blackbird are probably your best options for a decent bottle/tap selection, but I don't remember whether or not The Abner allows kids.
Pub W also tends to have a good tap list (in addition to Abner and Blackbird). Cellar, Spirit Shop, and Corkscrew are my Norman go-tos.
Didn't make it up to OKC. Hit Corkscrew and Cellar. I wouldn't mind trading for another Territorial Reserve and Pappy Burleson....we just got some more Jester King around these parts....wink wink Pub W was a hit with the fam. Good selection. Food was great. Thanks, y'all!
The Territorial Reserve series (excluding the Weatwine) and Pappy Burleson are two of the gems in Oklahoma that no one outside of the state seems to know about. Which Territorial Reserve did you end up getting, because I know the original TROAIS, the TROAIS w/ Coconut, & the TRBBABW have been showing up on draft around the metro lately. What all did you end up with after going to Corkscrew and Cellar, mostly Okla. local stuff or just an assortment of random stuff from all over?
I went straight Okie. F5 4pk DNR Bomb Coffee Okie Pappy Burleson Territorial Reserve BBA Barleywine x2 Heath Sweat Los Naranjos Some of these I've had before and are what I get every time I hit OK (eg F5) or they're cheaper there than Texas (Prairie). The Territorial Reserve BBABW is outstanding. I chilled it too much and it started out like a lightly oaked Bigfoot. But when it warmed to a more suitable temp...amazing. I'd love to get my hands on 1-2 more the share around these parts. I've not cracked the Pappy but based on reviews I've read, seems right up my alley. I'd like one more. I'll set up a proper trade on the trade board if anyone is interested.
Interesting. They must've done a new batch recently because the last time I remember seeing the Wheatwine was when they started the Territorial Reserve series 4-5 years ago, and the Wheatwine was universally slammed by the 20-30 people that I saw on a regular basis at the bar.
Glad we could steer you in the right direction. Norman is a surprisingly good college town for craft beer. (I'm a little biased, admittedly).
I had mine in there 3 years ago, mid-day on a Saturday. I presume they may have evening ban. I did have to ask them to turn down profanity laced rap/hip-hop which I wouldn't want to have listened to without my kids.
Kids are welcome for sure at tapwerks. My son goes all the time with me. They actually have a pretty good kids menu.
