I was up in Troy/Albany a couple weeks ago and picked up a variety of local beers to bring home. I had never heard of Northway Brewing before, but picked up a 4 pack of their Oat-Bituary coffee stout. I was so pleasantly surprised - it's hands down one of the best coffee stouts I've ever had. Such bold and wonderful aroma and flavor, and packed into a full bodied 5% abv beer. Label says it's conditioned on cocoa nibs, Death Wish coffee, and vanilla beans. So just wanted to spread the word. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/52753/467561/
A good friend whose palate is similar to mine was raving about the pilsener he tried from them. He said it's high quality for a reasonable price. His exact words were, "It's no Palatine Pils, but it's half the price and really good." Hope to check these guys out at some point for sure.
Very solid brews. That Pils is $8-9 a 4-pack and a fantastic deal, ditto with the Sunrise session IPA. I've got an Oat-bituary in my fridge and I'm pumped to check it out, seems like a spiritual successor to the Deathwish stuff that Olde Saratoga used to do.
It's in that building, yes, but with no actual affiliation to Davidson's. Northway also contract brews for a couple tiny outfits like Alphabet City.
Interested to hear what you think of it, since everyone's tastes are different. There was only one other review in the BA database before mine.
