Any sports bar recommendations in Williamsburg? There is a game tomorrow and we may want to see it. I don't think any of us are obnoxious Boston fans though we do love our teams.

This is a place where people go to watch sports. Across street from Brooklyn Brewery. I have not been personally.

Just got home about 15 minutes ago. Gotta say, Wild East, despite the massive half marathon crowds, beer wise, was all that it was hyped to be. The Czech lagers were great. The mild was solid.

They make the second best lagers in NY, IMO.

Staying near Times Square for 36 hours, wife has never been to NYC before and therefore we will be doing a lot of touristy stuff on the island. What are my best options to pop into on the island as we hit the normal first timer type stuff. I see Other Half near Rockefeller etc as a good option for this.

Any other suggestions that’d fit well into that plan?

As Is in Hell's Kitchen always has a great tap list. Harlem Hops Chelsea location (or, further away, but even better, the original Harlem Hops). Beer Run on 19th.

If "touristy stuff" includes walking around Greenwich Village/Bleeker St. area, I'll throw out Blind Tiger as a stop.

If you end up on the Lower East Side, around Katz's and some other touristy stuff, The Grand Delancey is well worth a small detour. It's gotta be one of the best beer bars in the country.

Around Times Square/midtown, OH Rockefeller Center is a great bet, As Is does usually have a great list though it can get super busy and I've had multiple experiences with poor service, Clinton Gourmet is good for a big selection of highly rated local/local-ish cans.

Ended up at OH Rockefeller, wife was quite stoked they had an N/A beer available. Hit up Evil Twin & the Sixpoint location after crossing the Brooklyn bridge. Nothing overly crazy but I had a good time.

Gonna have a some time this weekend and a plan to hit up a few breweries in Brooklyn. Fellow BAs, which ones are your favorites?

I did my bachelor party in Brooklyn last month. My favorite brewery, BY FAR, was Wild East.

Wild East is absolutely top 3 breweries in NY State IMO.

Check out this post. Wild East, Finback, Strong Rope, and Threes are all within a few blocks of each other so you can easily walk between them.

Now you have to name drop the other two in that list.

Grimm and Suarez in no particular order, for my personal preferences. If I want a million hazy IPAs in my fridge I’ll go to OH because they clearly are the best in that category, but I’m big on versatility.

Other Half (Centre St.) combo with Queue Beer. Then about a mile walk to Wild East and Finback.
If you want to try Strong Rope, go to the Red Hook location for the view. (other location near Finback).
Three’s is right there too but I don’t go there.

Tons of other options but the combo above is what I always suggest for a good mix of styles and great quality.

Finback has food options, Wild East has pop up or food truck often. Other Half has been having food more often recently too.

Can't argue with that. I haven't been down to Grimm since they opened their taproom, but I always loved their beers. It's just going into Brooklyn on a weekend is not something that appeals to me anymore haha. I'm hoping Suarez opens their new taproom soonish. The TAP is fine, but I miss them having a proper taplist.

IIRC you travel around NY a lot for work. Have you been to Drowned Lands? They do a lot of different styles pretty well and their taproom is really nice.

I'm also a big fan of Grimm. It was another brewery I had to go to on my bach. Just love the way they do hops. The only thing is that it's a little out of the way. With that said, we were able to get from Grimm to a restaurant by the Williamsburg bridge, walking, in under a half an hour.

I assumed Suarez was the other you were going to list. I haven't had them in so long though which probably needs to change.
If there was a "regret," I think it's not making it to the Red Hook Strong Rope location. Next time!

What's this about a new Suarez taproom? Gonna be onsite or a different location?

Have not made a visit since the before times. Their old taproom (on a quiet day) was my favorite place to drink a beer in New York. Concept of the Tap did not appeal to me.
