I am headed to Bend this weekend and just wanted to know what sours I should pick up while I am in town.

Anything Ale Apothecary, Logsdon, and Cascade. Ching Ching from Bend Brewing if you can find it. De Garde, as far as I know, does not distribute, so you won't find them anywhere in Bend.

Why limit yourself to sours? Bend has an AMAZING beer scene! Boneyard makes the best IPAs in the country as far I am concerned. Crux has a wide array of fantastic beers including another amazing IIPA (Half Hitch) and some great barrel aged beers (Banished line). Bend Brewing nails their Berlinner (Ching Ching as mentioned) and has a stellar Old Ale (Outback X). Honestly you can't go wrong with anything there!

Awesome! This really helps! I'm not limiting myself, I just don't know sours very well and Ive heard Oregon does great ones. I'm sure I'll pick up a good selection, I just don't want to miss something special because I was unaware.

Is Ching Ching bottled now? OP, this is a must-have. If it's not bottled, then go to the brewpub and have it there. You should not go home without experiencing this beer.

Ching Ching has been bottled since inception, though there have been dry spells without bottles on shelves. For the past year or so, though, its been consistently available.

If you see Breakside La Tormenta give it a go.
Its more of a hybrid sour but so tasty

BUMMER!! :slight_frown: I was in Bend back in May, and never knew that I might have been able to find some to bring home. (I didn't bother to ask anyone, so my bad.) That was the best sour that I've ever experienced, including more than a few at the two Portland breweries that have a good reputation for brewing sours.

Bend is amazing. For breweries check out Bend brewing, crux, deschutes, not sour but amazing iPas is boneyard. Then check out the platypus and broken top bottle shop for bottles.

As mentioned, The Ale Apothecary. As far as I am concerned Paul is making some of the best beers in the country right now. Very unique and surely not to be missed.

They are definitely pricey, but since the OP is visiting from out of town I think Ale Apothecary beers are worth the extra dough.

I picked up 2x Sahalie and a bottle of Be Still when I was in town over the summer and didn't think twice at the $100 tag on those three combined; you only live once so you may as well drink good beer!

Can't deny Ale Apothecary and Paul as one of the most creative and best brewers in the country. Also check out Crows Feet Commons. They have a well curated tap list and bottle shop - you may be able to snag some Commons Sours as well as other Portland/Oregon breweries you won't find elsewhere.

    Welcome to paradise.
