TBH the FB thread is straight fire.

People posting on craigslist that there is a surplus of overstock camping chairs for pick up outside other half.

Someone trying to cut the line by offering smoked fish from Russ & Daughters.

And someone offering to trade found Delaware Petrified wood for beers.

And the gif memes. Always on point.

The group always brings out the winners this time of year. To all those braving this, May the odds be ever in your favor.

Wait, so, what happened. Did people save their line spots with chairs? Or, they gave out wristbands before 8am and then when it opened you could go drink?

The FB group is worth joining if only just to lurk. The chair threads are always full of people trying to act hard saying they're gonna start tossing chairs, but nobody ever does anything.

I haven't had Grimm in like 2 years because every store up here acts like it's still this ultra hype shit. I'd love to have Tesseract again, but not for $7/can.

All this mention of KBS and nobody mentioned that their latest adjunct in this year's release is racism?

The guy that I'm trading with is already in line and he's tag teaming with a buddy. He's not even buying all 6 cans, so if anyone can hook up line @ garnet and cost +10, I'd love you long time.

They had been giving out wristbands for a while. I think they cut allotments but I didn’t care cuz I never max out. I got in line and went to use the bathroom in the taproom around 8 and one of the bartenders asked if I wanted anything so I said fuck it.

IIRC at that point most people were in their chairs.

I'm telling you it has nothing to do with hype hard to get beers. People love this as an event. It's fun for them. I'd bet that most there already aren't even the bad guys that resell in their shitty little LI stores.

There is certainly an eclectic crowd in the taproom right now

I would love nothing more than to wake up tomorrow morning and find out NYPD confiscated all the chairs on the sidewalk.

I miss the old Gowanus. This shit would never have happened. Someone would have stole the chair as soon as the owner walked away. The people who do this are the gold standard of losers.

If there is any 6 anni left around 1-2 when I’m on my way back from surfing in NJ I’ll swing by but I’m sensing the odds are not going to be in my favor.

As @jrnyc said earlier - the beer they put out next week will be just as good or better.

This is beyond true. Half the people “in” this line wouldn’t have been caught dead walking around gowanus 3+ years ago. I’m hoping for an easy 12pm roll in. Grab 6th and anything else that may be left

I really, really don’t get it. Even if I personally found the whole #LineLife scene pretty tacky, whatever... I got it. This isn’t that. It’s hanging out in a shitty area in the cold with mules. I know the secondary market is a faux pas, but how little does one have to value their time to not just spend the $100 on the 1pp stout rather than waiting in that line?

Agreed I didn't buy KBS this year or the espresso because of the racism issue. Other Half has them beat there for sure. That's a shame about Grimm, but I guess if it sells they're not going to change. I'm assuming that it's mostly people who only work in NYC who are willing to pay the "convenience fee" since they're never traveling all the way to the brewery.

Eh, there's too much good stuff to ever try it all, so I didn't feel a need to buy from them this year after all the issues with the employee in Detroit and their poor handling/non apologies. Seems like now they're trying so I might eventually try some, but I think most people here realize the beer industry is pretty darn white, and sometimes I think it brings out some nastiness and insensitivity. Founders seemed to run into that. Seems like other half has at least some diversity... Though not THAT much... But at least hopefully they have enough sense to not create an environment where an employee might feel it's ok to name the slow/regularly broken printers after black people or literally ever say the n word.
