Heading to the Beaufort (NC)/Morehead City area at the end of September- any breweries worth hitting up in the area while I'm down there? Thanks!

I have not made it to all of these places yet but I have some relatives in that area so I have made a short list of breweries that I need to check out:

    Shortway Brewing Co. (Brewery/Bar/Beer-to-Go)
    230 Chatham St
    Newport, North Carolina, 28570
    United States

    Crystal Coast Brewing Company (Brewery/Bar)
    702 Arendell St
    Morehead City, North Carolina, 28557
    United States
    (252) 773-0974

    Mill Whistle Brewing (Brewery/Bar/Beer-to-Go)
    1354 Lennoxville Rd
    Beaufort, North Carolina, 28516-9020
    United States
    (252) 247-6929

Tight Lines Pub & Brewing Company (Brewery/Bar/Eatery/Beer-to-Go)
    709 Arendell St
    Morehead City, North Carolina, 28557
    United States
    (252) 773-0641

So far, I have tried Shortway and Mill Whistle - both had some very enjoyable beers.

Since you are not too far, you might also consider heading over to Emerald Isle as there are a couple of decent spots to grab a beer/growler fill:

    Anchor Drafthouse & Pizzeria (Bar/Eatery)
    136 Headen Ln, Ste B
    Salter Path, North Carolina, 28512
    United States
    (252) 452-1985

    Goose Creek Growler Company (Bar/Beer-to-Go)
    200 Mallard Dr
    Emerald Isle, North Carolina, 28594-2401
    United States

Both places had a pretty good selection of Eastern NC breweries on draft when I visited over the last couple of summers.

You could also check out this place as it is not too far:

Harrika's Brew Haus - Soon to be "The Treehouse" (Bar/Beer-to-Go)
    911 Cedar Point Blvd
    Cedar Point, North Carolina, 28584-8017
    United States
    (252) 354-7911

I usually highly recommend Harrika's but they have recently undergone an ownership change so I cannot speak to what it is like now as I have not been to the area since the ownership change occurred but I thought I saw a facebook post that said they had increased the number of drafts to 29 and added a few extra games/things to do while visiting.

    Anyways I hope this helps.

I would certainly hit up Crystal Coast Brewing. They are in downtown Morehead just across the street from the waterfront part of downtown and have a huge location, some games and TVs, and a good variety of both their own brews and good guest taps. And Tight Lines is easy walking distance across the busy Arendell, the main drag there. Crystal Coast Brewing has also recently opened (earlier this year) a new location across the bridge in Atlantic Beach. If you venture over to AB at all you have that location of crystal coast to check out, AB bottle shop, and idlewild beer garden or the dive that is the tackle box (both of which are pretty much on the ocean, just no view really, but literally built almost where the sand comes up to the parking lot).

As for Beaufort, I’ve never personally hit up many locations there, but several friends sing the praises of mill whistle.

    Have a good trip!

(And you’re forgiven for the incorrect use of obx, haha)
