Hi BA community, I realize there are lots of varying opinions on a full agenda for PDX, but I was hoping to really quickly canvas your thoughts on your one "must not miss" for a visit to Portland. I'm unexpectedly going to be in town Sunday and Monday night, but am going to the Blazers game Monday night, so there isn't much time there. On my personal "can't miss" list is Cascade and HotD, plus APEX. I will also make sure I get to either Beermongers or Belmont Station to stock up for my cross-border shopping. If you had parts of two nights what would be the one thing you'd tell me to make sure I get to? Note, I'm coming from Vancouver, BC, which may influence what's a top priority due to distribution availability, etc. Also...is there anywhere in town that is pouring anything from Russian River?
As always, the search function is your friend. You really can't do any better than this as a resource. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-portland-spring-2014-update.165640/ As for your last question, if you want a sure thing, go to the Horsebrass. They always have either Blind Pig or PtE on tap (they interchange the tap handle - Blind Pig is always followed by Pliny, and vice versa). Have fun.
APEX also often has PtE at a hefty price, but to be honest, unless you've never tried the RR beer you are seeking I'd highly recommend trying one of the 6-8 Barley Browns and Boneyard hoppy beers on tap there.
Great point. I've actually been to RR, but the guy I'm going with has never tried their stuff. Boneyard is always a priority for me when I can get it.
Twist on my earlier question - any recommended place near Moda Centre? Is Upright going to be completely overwhelmed pre-game?
Tin Bucket is about a 20 minute walk north. Widmer is also walking distance (a mile or so), and Ecliptic is just a bit further away. Your best bet is Upright though. Who cares if it's packed? You'll be hanging with a bunch of other Blazers fans and it's Upright.
