I've never tried them. Are they more Hype? Or are there some actually good ones in this style out there?
I've had DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus which was pretty decent. Lots of chocolate and peanut butter flavor but I couldn't drink more than one at a time.
My girlfriend's parents live outside of Lancaster, PA. I checked out Spring House brewery. Was impressed by their beer. This one included......
Belching Beaver has a peanut butter stout that's pretty damn good, but I've had a few that were all gimmick
I used to like Belching Beaver's Peanut Butter Milk stout, but nowadays I find myself with a stomach ache every time I drink it. I stray away from it now.
Jack's Abby's Pb&j framinghammer is fantastic. Great malt/bourbon/vanilla base with some peanut butter to compliment it (and some raspberry).
Sounds tasty, but like you, I cannot do lactose beers, and milk stout beers. And that includes sours. Major stomach issues.
Nut Smasher, Belching Beaver, Willioughby, and Big Gruesome are the only I've had that didn't taste artificial and watery. Those 4 are all great beers. Sweet Baby Jesus, Liquid Bliss, Purple Monkey Dishwasher, Crunch, and I'm sure I've had others were all just "Meh". The PB&J Framminghammer is good but I wouldn't call that a Peanut Butter beer since, to me at least, it was more Jelly than PB. Same goes for Liquid Bliss, much more Jelly sweetness than PB and that beer kind of sucked anyway.
