    Hi all,
I am trying to source this beer for purchase in the US. I am from the UK originally and now live and Kansas. I used to purchase it at Waitrose grocery store in the UK but have had no luck finding it in the US. I see several reviews of the beer so was hoping I could find a source for purchase. Thanks all in advance for any leads or feedback.

You probably want to contact the local Kansas beer distributor for Peroni which seems to be Central States Beverage. Ask them if that specific beer is being distributed or when it might be available in your area. Good luck! Cheers

Unfortunately the European import scene is lacking in most parts of the US. The closest Peroni product you’ll find will probably be Nastro Azzuro, which can be found in many groceries stores and Italian restaurants. Dark, strong double-malt beers tend not to be very popular in this country, unfortunately.

You may have some luck finding a variety of German Dunkel Lagers or even Bock, or at least American craft interpretations. Since you’re in Kansas, you might find some KC Bier Dunkel, which I hear is pretty good.

You are also in a part of the country with a rich dark-lager tradition. For example, you might want to try Shiner Bock from Texas.

The beer in question seems to be much lighter in color and stronger in alcohol than something along those lines.
It is likely that you will have trouble buying that beer here. I think you should try some other imports to see if there's a different beer that might scratch that itch. Given the time of year, I'd start with Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier while it's still around. If you happen to spot an Einbecker Mai-Ur-Bock, give that a shot. A US brewed beer labeled "Maibock" or "Heller Bock" is worth a shot too if the price is right.

A continental Maibock or Hellerbock is exactly what this beer would be like; trying to emulate, really.

The doppio malto (double malt) is really a tax classification in Italy, not a style, but they generally resemble the German/Austrian bock 'family' of styles. The range is from pale to brown, traditional bock strength (6.6%) to over 8%. From the reviews this one is solidly in Hellerbock territory based on color and strength.

My mistake - north of the Alps in Germany and Austria, “double-malt” or “Doppelmalz” beer tends to be darker and sweeter, although often not dramatically stronger, compared to average beer. For example, this Kaiser Doppelmalz which I tried in Austria in summer 2019 when I did a series sampling local Dunkel lagers, was dark, very sweet, and light in alcohol.

    Hi dear,
you probably already know but you are talking about a heavier variant of Italy's most commercial beer.
The main office is in the city of Bari, in the Puglia region, and is a great work center for many workers.
Obviously we are talking about a beer that is synonymous with industriality, and it is part of that deep-rooted habit that the advent of craft beer wants to subvert.
The battle is uneven, but now these industrial brands (which previously had neither need nor aspiration to find variations to their main product) are still trying to distract as few consumers as possible by offering "crafty" offers, obviously at prices out of the market for an artisan producer.
The clearest example of what I am saying can be found in the Birra Moretti line (also a large industry) called "Le Regionali".

    Good luck.

The Peroni beers are imported into the US by Molson Coors and fall under their "Tenth and Blake" craft and import division. Molson Coors retained the US import rights of Peroni, a former SAB-owned brewing company, despite AB-InBev having sold off the company to Asahi (similar to Pilsner Urquell) - part of the DoJ agreement that OK'ed the sale of SABMiller to ABInBev.

So if the OP's beer ever makes it to the US, it will be via Molson Coors importing subsidiary, which uses this address for it's European brands.

    Hey Craig,

My god. UK to Kansas? Okay, what did you do to deserve that?!

Kidding aside, you might want to consider Birra Moretti La Rossa. It’s a good dopplebock for sure and perhaps similar to the Peroni version you are seeking out (I have never tried Peroni’s, personally). It might not be a perfect substitute but at least it might tie you over until you can find some. I can’t say for certain if they offer it in KS but I think it’s worth looking into. A quick google search shows Jacob’s liquors in Wichita:
