The Brew Gentlemen tag made me feel pushed to post about my recent BG experience.

First of all, I live way to the west of the city. BG is a little over an hour drive away. That is good and bad news!

Last weekend, my wife and I dropped the kids off at a meeting spot in Monroeville and went to BG. I really love the urban redevelopment stuff that's going on in the city. We live in a tough neighborhood, so going to Braddock wasn't a big deal. The place was really nice. Trendy and modern but definitely had their own style. I really appreciated the way the staff was dressed (shirt and tie). We got there at 7pm and there were tables and chairs to be had. My wife appreciated that.

The beer. After following this thread for a while and hearing my brother speak of BG being referred to in some DC social media, I had pretty high expectations. They still blew them away. I was also a little hesitant about the whole hazy beer thing. I've had Heady a bunch of times and love their cloudiness but I generally am drawn to the clear IPAs. I got the Legendary Weapons first. It was tremendous. I now understand what "hop forward" means. I thought I had had some juicy beers before. This really stood out. So much orange. So much juice. So different from most of the IPAs out there. Then I the General Braddock. Equally top notch. I finished with the Goblins. It, too, was really great. It wasn't quite "world class" like the IPAs, but it held up just fine.

There are a lot of new breweries in the city. These guys are doing something really special. I hate to say that because I don't want to wait for 3 hours for their beer in 2 years. But it was such a good experience there, I felt like it was important to share.

Thanks and keep up the good work BG!

Paste that into a place review, score it, & give them some more rating points, man.

Anyone know if bottles of Gratitude are still available at East End, or did they sell out on Saturday?

To clarify my earlier post about the Jungle Juiced Head Hunter--the tweet clearly reads JuJu, but I overlooked it. Not Seville oranges, but looks like it naval, cara cara and mandarin oranges.

It's Hop Juju with Florida Honey Tangerines added.

It's delicious. @RayOhioFelton brought me a growler to Nutsmasher and it was amazing.

I wish you could edit beer posts easier on here because we could add it to the Fat Head description, but I submitted an edit to it so we will see if it gets updated.

Troegs threw out an oblique tweet yesterday about their Scratch series:

...and think it might be a nod toward making a DIPA mainstay. @PSU_Mike and I discussed a while back about a second Scratch that was Nimble Giant-ish, but not the same NB (as the first go around, which was really good). They're releasing another -ish Scratch today, which strengthens suspicions.

They're not talking about the Saison they put in the spring 12 packs?

Maybe, but the timing is suspicious (given the release today, which I'm told is very Nimble Giantesque). Plus, speculating wildly is fun and because the Saison isn't pictured in the tweet either...and because I want to see more Nimble Giant.

So, had a bottle shipped (as part of a larger shipment) to a friend of a friend who lives in Sarver and works in Wexford. I'm in USC and work in Pleasant Hills; our paths don't really cross. Wondering if anyone is (1) near either of these two locations and (2) is going to the Voodoo release on the 26th between 1100 and noon, and would #pickitupformebro. PM me if so, willing to throw a bottle or two at you for your troubles.

I don't think anyone can pick up allotments without the matching ID

If it's Nimble Giant, I am going to be very, very happy. That beer was off the charts good. Very similar to Focal and Todd the Axeman, 2 of my favorite IPAs.

You are correct, sir. The pick up is for the bottle my friend's holding--to bring to the Voodoo release, which I will be attending.
