Here's where I dare to get ripped a new one for not looking at prior posts... but my question is date specific. I'm going to be in town the August 11 weekend and I'm curious if there are any beer releases, or events that may be happening around that time. Sadly, the Pirates are away - would've loved to have caught a game. Anything else that's a must see or do, if you don't mind, point me in the right direction. My first time in Pittsburgh since I was a child, btw. Thanks & Cheers! Wes from NC.
Good weekend to come: - Infinite Highway release at Dancing Gnome is that day (great beer) - I would get there a little before noon to be safe, but they release this beer occasionally so you don't have to wait in line for hours or anything. http://www.dancinggnomebeer.com/can-schedule/ - It appears a lot of the top breweries in Pittsburgh are doing collaborations for Fresh Fest, which is a first annual beer fest that raises awareness and features black brewers from across the country (I think a lot of the collabs are with various local brewers and black brewers from across the country, but I can't say I'm 100% on this, looks like there's a collab page on the link below). To be clear, anyone is welcome (you don't have to be black haha) - more details below. The early bird rate may still apply for tickets. https://freshfestbeerfest.com/ If you really want to know what's going on, I would temporarily sign up for the Brew Gentlemen, Dancing Gnome, Grist House, and Cinderlands newsletters now in order to get next week's editions, which will speak to what's going on that weekend (and follow Voodoo Homestead on IG).
Thanks for the great advice, @3genpanther. I'm definitely jumping on those newsletters. We're spending our first night in a Frank Lloyd Wright house - then heading downtown for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully we can find some good pubs around the Renaissance hoteld downtown. Thanks again - Cheers!

Very nice. Finally got down to see Fallingwater a few months back - great experience. There aren't any breweries downtown, but it's an easy and enjoyable walk to the north shore if you want to check out Southern Tier and/or Rivertowne. Other walkable options for bars are Market Square (City Works / The Yard) and on Penn Ave into the cultural district (Proper brick oven has a great tap list, Sienna Mercato - especially the roof top bar, Bakersfield, and many more). Let us know how your trip goes if you get a chance!
