Place search page is too vague

    I type in the German city "Hof" in Beerfly and the response I get is 120+ entries which have "Hof" in the cityname, street name, or propery name (Hofbrau or Gasthof). There has to be a better way... I even clicked on directory - Germany - Hof and got the list of shitloads of improper options.....

    Yes, your search is too vague. Hof is a common German word. Try being more specific when searching.

    Oh, and have you typed "hof" into Google? Good luck.

    The name of the city is HOF... If I click on that name from the BA directory I would expect to get results for HOF GERMANY.... Your search engine should search for just CITIES named HOF if that is what I input..... But when I input HOF in the CITY section it gives me streets, names, etc including HOF ...

    Gotcha. I'll look into this when I get back. The search changed recently. I just need to adjust.

    Try now. It should be much more specific with the name and city field.

    Yes, only 22 replies instead of 130+ for "Hof", though still getting city names with "hof" as part, like Bad Wörishofen.... Can't throw in a qualifier to request an exact match? I thought there was a tips page that had search suggestions in the past... Thnx for the update.

    Search was updated back in April: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/site-updates-april-22-2014.172260/

    If we do an exact match, it'll severely limit results and lead to a lot of "not found" errors for that specific search page ... which is eventually being replaced as it's severely outdated.

    I'll consider this bug closed now.
