possible bad trader: Luweezy

    I participated in a beer it forward fantasy football league. Everyone had to put a nice bottle up to participate, along with extras and a nice piece of glassware. Seemed simple enough.

    Luweezy participated all season long. The season ended, people got their boxes shipped off promptly or at least reached out to let the person receiving the boxes know why. Not a big deal as long as you reach out to let someone know, right? Sadly, it has been 6 or 7 weeks since the conclusion of the season.

    I have emailed Luweezy and sent him messages through BA. The terms of this league were made very clear at the beginning. I am looking for resolution in this matter. I truly hope that he gets this resolved soon. If anyone has had similar dealings with Luweezy, maybe you can shed a little light on this.

    He has no trading history and has not been on in 5 weeks. Do you have any other contact info for him? Seems highly unlikely he will appear here.

    Only his email. I tried that several times and he has yet to respond. Now I am not sure how to get in touch with him. Hopefully @Luweezy checks in one day soon.

    If he turns out to be a bad trader and/or a thief, he would be to my knowledge the first one to use what I assume is his real pic as an avatar.

    Looks like he was trying to join a few different fantasy football BIFs back in Sept, and those were his last posts here on BA.

    Just a quick suggestion that unfortunately isn't very helpful here now but for future leagues if you run them. I would require somebody like this with NO trading history to have a sponsor from a seasoned trader/BIFer or require an
    upfront cash deposit that would later be forfeited if he loses and doesn't come through. There are websites like Leaguesafe that admin these things. Good luck hope he comes through. To me a whelcher is the lowest form of life, by definition a liar and a thief. Not a good combo @Luweezy. Pay your debts.

    I considered not letting anyone join that had less than 10 positive trades. Then I thought I was being too picky. Should have listened to my gut.

    His reddit account looks abandoned too. @JohnGalt1, thanks for forwarding it to me. I will see if he responds to a message there.

    Hate seeing people get screwed over. Currently going thru this now with the IRS not processing my tax return and I feel literally helpless, no recourse. Knowing I can help someone else out makes me feel less powerless. Good luck

    Supposed to send Mexican cake, 90 ounces of local extras and 1 piece of glassware. More than the box, it's the frustration that he participated all year long. Had he won, he would probably be all over me asking where his packages are. I just hate welchers.

    I have tried to call 2 phone numbers he had listed as well. No answer. He is completely off the grid. I also saw he was trying to join other leagues. I wonder if he pulled the same stunt with them?

    @juliuscaesar2701, very kind gesture and much appreciated. The only thing that I am looking for is to make sure he is held accountable, if that is possible. Or that this will prevent others to allow him to join future leagues and participate in trades. I have done many trades and all other BAs have been great. Some of the kindest fanatics I have ever encountered. I'm counting on bad beer karma on @Luweezy. Thanks again.

    I doubt any of this is a coincidence. Sounds to me as if he's well aware you're looking for him, and has gone to great lengths to stay away from you or anyone associated with BA or the league he was in. Based on previous experiences with BT threads, at this point your best bet (and likely only remaining recourse) is to try to find someone who knows him in the Pa. area (where I gather he lives). That would likely entail trying to reach out to other traders and folks he's corresponded with on BA, and perhaps doing some research on Facebook (if he has an account), and trying to get in touch with some of his "friends." That's a fair amount of work for you, and even if you're successful, and are able to enlist the help of someone who knows him in the area, the likelihood of you ever getting him to make good on his pledge is almost nil. I think at this point you/we have a pretty good idea of the type of person you're dealing with, and expecting him to change, or make good on any of his promises, is just not going to happen. I know it sucks, but at some point I think you probably will just have to walk away from this.

    Todd will likely retire his account in the not too distant future, so at least that will keep him from ever perpetrating this type of scheme on anyone else on BA (though at this point, it really appears as if he's abandoned his BA account as well).
