As craft beer drinkers, we often have to pay a premium for quality beer. It's totally understandable for the most part because most craft beer is handcrafted just like fine art.

That being said, I've seen a lot of beer lately with absurd prices.

This evening, I came across St. Bernardus for the first time and there was only a mixed 6-pack available. Like I said, I've never come across St. Bernardus before so I don't know how much they go individually but the six pack was $24.95. I thought the price was quite steep but of course I had to buy it :stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone else come across some ridiculous pricing?

I suppose limited/special releases are a bit different but that is quite pricey for a quart of beer :grimacing:

FiftyFifty Eclipse. Close to $30 for a bottle of mediocre BA beer. :astonished:

It's always a frustrating experience when you pay a premium for a product that doesn't warrant such a high price...

I am assuming that they are 375 ml bottles? ~$4 per ain't bad imho.

Just paid 19.99 for a bomber of barrel aged big foot. Recently paid 24.00 ( in a bar ) for a bottle of Mainer weiss . I don't usually pay those prices but it seems like every time I go to a store or bar prices have gone up . Compare that to paying 50 cents for a G.I.Q. (40 ounce) when I was a kid.

Yes. I know in this area (DC/MD Metro area) it seems like shops are taking advantage of certain people working hard to seem "hip" and willing to pay anything and its hurting people who actually measure what they buy. To use your example, at the beer store I usually patron, St. Bernardus - ABT 12 is $21.99. I mean that just can't be right.

330 mL. I suppose that ~$4 dollars isn't too terrible, it's just that I paid around 10 dollars more for a six-pack than I usually pay.

I don't think I would call Eclipse mediocre, but I would agree it doesn't live up to its price point.

24.00 is quite steep for a growler but I suppose if it's good then it is worth it?

$10 is the most I've ever paid for a growler so I can't really justify spending double that for the same amount of beer.

Shops are definitely taking advantage. I hope you don't mean $21.99 for a single bottle of ABT 12

Still a fair price for a Belgian "super star" brewery.

There are so many folks out there that pay the absurd price. Don't pay the price, and look foolish. Many just pay whatever because they don't know any better. I understand, economics, supply and demand. But many of you are getting ripped off. I know this because when you put a price on your beer for a trade, it is a ridiculous price. I just shake my head and say "No thanks."

No. 4pk, it would probably be worse if it were a bomber. Great Divide EOA Yeti bomber is $17.99 etc., I mean it just goes up and up honestly. Last year it was $10.99.

As soon they realize that there is a market for it the prices shoot through the roof. I've been lucky in my area to have an extremely popular (in this area anyway) craft brewery where I can still get a growler for only $10.00.

Did your mix 6 come with a goblet? The mixed 6 gift set of St. Bernardus was $20ish here in WI.

A lack of control on the purchasers part?
