Had Summer Break the other day. It's boring and uninteresting.

I hadn't caught up on this thread for a couple weeks. Making sure I'm recapping right: to date this year from Sierra Nevada we picked up a session hazy IPA and a limited release of pale bock, but (effectively) lost Summerfest, Porter, and Stout? That's definitely a loss in my book.

I get that SN can't sell what people aren't buying. But it's still a bummer that the trends are what they are - and are then perpetuated by breweries chasing the trend. Someone made a great point that losing 'heritage' beers isn't likely going to change the trajectory of fad beer consumers one way or the other, but it is going to loosen the hold on legacy buyers. I firmly agree with that.

Guess I better snap up another classic "Pale Ale, Porter, Stout" sweatshirt while I still can.

Something semi interesting. Roadhouse Wilson IPA started off clear, went hazy fairly recently, and is back to being clear. At least on draught. I think that I taste the difference but more research is needed.

Ha yeah, I could see myself doing that, but I’ve been specifically looking for the new branding.

Did they ever actually label it as a "hazy" IPA, or was this a production glitch?

Well, that's because you didn't post some snarky comment in @BeerVikingSailor 's thread about the new labels - you know, something like:
As a result (OK, maybe not ) a few have shown up in NJ - some of the new beers and canned Liberty Ale, which I purchased last month dated 3/Something*/2021.
    * Damn, forget now since they picked up recycling yesterday but the freshest Anchor I've seen in many years - and I've routinely checked every new delivery - even knew the old date coding system by heart (well, had a cheat sheet in my wallet for years, too).

I picked up a 6 pack of steam dated 03/11/21. Tasted fine did not care much for the new label.

I don't think anyone is saying it's a bad beer. It is the tipping point for many who are tired of the hazy trend eradicating product diversity. It's the same reason people despised pale lagers for the longest time. Yes, people can drink what they like and so forth, but we also need a wide range of offerings from our favorite breweries at the local, regional, and national level.

It was never labeled a Hazy, that's why I almost fell out of my chair at Old Chicago when I was first served it that way.

I guess the real question is, how did it taste?

Smaller breweries are often inconsistent with different aspects, but the beer is usually drinkable -- at least in my experience.

I reckon close to what I was used to. Definitely didn't have the resemblance of a NEIPA.

Picked up a six pack of Steam (dated 04/01/21) and a six pack of Crisp Pilsner (dated 03/19/21) on Wednesday in Metuchen; they were $9.99 apiece plus tax. Haven't tasted them yet, but I'm enthused.

I would be very interested in reading what you think of the beer. There is only one review of this new beer from Anchor on BA and that person had an unfavorable view of this new beer.

    Cheers!

Dated on the actual box of six pack cans or just dated on the bottom of the can?

He's asking about the can and can packaging -- of which I can't recall either.

Have to look next time I see them.

But yes, the bottles have the dates on the back label.
