I'm so proud...my wife is going to Philly for business in a couple of weeks and she heard me talking to a friend that RR was available in Philly so she's asking where she can pick up a few bottles of any of the sours.

She's had them on time and now wants more. She's going to be at Drexel and I see Local 44 is close and gets them. She's only going to be there for 2 days. Is this the best/most likely spot to get them. I doubt she will drive all over the city to get it. Trying to make it easy.

Local 44 would be my suggestion.

Drexel actually has three locations so it makes a difference whether she'll be in Center City or at University City campus. But public transit is pretty good.

Here are two "finders" to check out:

    http://www.beermenus.com/search?q=russian+river

    http://www.phillytapfinder.com/brewery/russian-river/

They won't necessarily give identical results and neither is guaranteed to be 100%

The Beermenus site relies on the bar owner to keep the list current and some don't so a date check is a good idea and a phone call may be needed.

The PhillyTapFinder relies on crowdsourcing and so depends in part on whose going where and finds what. Again the info may be out of date so again check the date and a phone call may be needed.

Right now, RR sours are all dried up at bottle shops so she will have to pay $18-20+ for them at bars. Vargas (listed on Beermenus) tend to be pretty up-to-date and I believe they have $1 or $2/off bottles during happy hour. You'll only be able to find Damnation. It will be a bit of walking from Drexel main campus to Local 44, but if she's there, check out Pasqually's as well: http://pasquallyspizza.com/ . Best to call these places before getting there.

@PhillyTapFinder can confirm this, but my understanding is that they are not crowd-sourced, but rather get the draft list from bar that signed up with them and they update the information accordingly.

Thanks guys. Transpo isn't a big deal as she will be driving down there and two, we're used to walking all over the place anyway if parking stinks.

Hopefully sh'es able to get some good stuff to bring home.

Check out Old Philly Ale House. It's a bottle shop that often has RR when other places don't. At the very least, Damnation and Redemption ought to be available there. It's also a quick drive from Drexel. Right near 20th and Green. The best part is she can pop into Belgian Cafe for a beer before or after buying beer at the store.

I think they were crowdsourced when they first started, but now they get all of their tap lists directly from the bars. Oddly enough they are frequently more up-to-date than a bar's own website.

There's some crowd-sourcing, but 95% of my info comes directly from the bars. That's the only way to keep these lists reliable and as accurate as possible.

My Dad will be visiting Philly next week and I was wondering what the chances are of him being able to find some RR and mule it back to CT for me. I've had PTE several times so I'm mostly interested in their sours. I'm guessing the answer is no, but are these readily available in many of the more high-end stores in the city? If not, what are some specific spots I could ask him to check out where he won't get price gouged? Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

He might be able to find some pricy Damnation in single bottles at bars or bottle shops, or less pricy by the case if he's driving. Details appear in some of the other threads in this forum about finding RR in Philly area.

As for other RR beers, they are in short supply right now so it will be catch as catch can with a good bit of searching, some pointers to specific spots are already listed in one or two recent threads asking pretty much the same question. Good luck!

http://phillytapfinder.com for draft (somebody's always serving PtE, Blind Pig + Monk's Cafe's always a good guess.)

various bottle shops will usually carry Damnation. Everything else, if you see it be sure to grab it!
