Going to be heading to Seattle in a couple of months. What are some cool breweries with tap rooms to go to? I love Pale Ales, IPA's, Stouts and Porters. Any information would be great. Thank you all for your time and help.

I always recommend going to Fremont Brewing, Brouwer's Cafe and Bottleworks (all pretty close to one another).

Virtually all of the breweries in Seattle have taprooms. If you've been to Night Shift brewery's taproom, that's what most of them are like.

With that said, the link posted by my man @beertunes is a great place to start. How long are you here for?

Awesome, thank you all. @TheBungyo I have been to Night Shift and I love it there. I actually run a tap room in MA so I was hoping there would be a few good ones. I am only there for 4 nights.

My girlfriend is from Canton so I go to Boston almost every year. Which taproom do you run if you don't mind me asking? I'll check it out for sure next time I visit. And yes, Night Shift kicks ass!

You should be able to visit quite a few taprooms in four nights time! One of the must visit breweries from the link beertunes posted is Reuben's. If you stop there you'll be within a short walk of both Stoup and Lucky Envelope, two places that make some very good stuff. You'll also be able to hit The Jolly Roger, which for my money has some really awesome pub grub, and maybe the best onion rings I've ever had. The Jolly Roger is the taproom for one of Seattle's older breweries, Maritime Pacific Brewing (started in 1990 I believe). There's literally another dozen or so breweries right in that neighborhood, but the most worth visiting are absolutely Reuben's, Lucky Envelope, and Stoup in my opinion.

I'll mention one of the more unique places I've ever been to, and that's Machine House Brewery. They do English styles and serve all of their beers via beer engine. I think at last count they had 6-7 beer engines, and one keg for a guest tap. Almost all of their beers are right around 4% and great for sessioning.

Also, I definitely suggest coming to the Greenwood neighborhood to check out Chuck's Hop Shop. Not a taproom (beer bar with 40 taps that also doubles as a bottleshop and fills growlers to go) but worth checking out. While you're in the neighborhood you can visit Naked City and Flying bike. Two taprooms next door to one another.

Those are my suggestions, along with the places designated "must hits" from the aforementioned thread. A "must hit" that isn't in the "must hits" yet is Cloudburst. They opened recently and most agree they're making some of the best stuff in the city.

@TheBungyo - I work at Wormtown Brewery in Worcester. Seriously, thank you for all the advice. Wicked good of you to let me know. I'll be sure to get to a few of these.

Mildly OT here, but, we in the PNW like to think we don't have a "scene". Beer is just a part of life. Good beer is expected, and the only surprise comes when you stumble across the rare place that doesn't have at least a couple acceptable options on tap. Sure, we have "specialty beer stores" and "beer bars", but in all honesty, our grocery stores and mini-marts often rival, and even surpass, the bottle shops in some other places.

Beer is just so ingrained into our lives out here that we don't even think about it. In my small city you can have a beer while getting a hair cut, having your bike repaired, watching a movie, or browsing in the book store. My advice to OP, is to just spend some poking around, and stop in to some unassuming little place. You'll likely be surprised by what you'll find. Visit our best and brightest, certainly, but also give yourself a chance to relax and be surprised.

Very happy to help and hope you have a great visit. I'll be sure to check out Wormtown (will be a nice excuse to see what's west of Boston) on my next visit for sure.

If you make it to Flying Bike and want to grab a beer let me know, I live right next to the brewery. I might even grab something tasty from the beer cellar to bring over.

Afrech1, you're gonna have a wicked good time hea, just don't sweat all the comments about your accent. I grew up in Milford and my brother got married in Woosta. FuckinA. He is also opening a brewery in Jamacia Plain called Turtle Bay Brewing.

EdwardAbbey...shoulda known. Masshole all the way  Where did you grow up?

Try as I might on this site, it seems impossible to conceal my congenital Masshole-ishness. :slight_smile:I was actually born in Woosta', or thereabouts, but lived in those parts for only 6 months, before moving to the Cape. All my childhood memories are from that peninsula--a wonderful, if somewhat insular and sheltered, place in which to grow up. I did end up going to college in Norton, however, which is not at all far from Milford. Funny that the founder of my future favorite local brewery, completely across the continent, should have such a serendipitous connection to my past.

I realized after I submitted my last comment that I put the word "wicked" in there. I type like I talk. I do actually pronounce my R's. Saying something like "Hey Sully, whats yuh majuh, kid?" isn't my thing. If anyone is wondering from the west coast what I am talking about, please go to youtube and search "Boston Fishing Baby Whale". You will laugh your butt off. Or be wicked annoyed by the way the guy talks.....
