It was odd though. Over the summer the worker at Short's refused to sell us a Growler of Black Cherry Porter and claimed the foam made it so it wasn't possible. The group was suspicious and I'm curious as to if this is normal or if he just didn't want to sell us the beer.

I'd like to see cup a joe bba. I'd like to see that one hold up against others, but in all honesty I could care less for 95% bba beers. There's too many and most are just way too hot to drink when released. Just my opinion. I'm kinda over bourbon barrel beers

Agree. I do really like BBA done right, but it's just such a fad right now that everything is getting aged in BB and it doesn't always make the beer better. Not to mention it sends costs sky high. I'd say 50% of the time I enjoy the base beer better.

With all that said I'd love to see Short's do BBA bottles!

I agree, but the nice thing about Short's is that their BBA beers really impart a consistent, sweet flavor of liquor. I also respect that they don't do what so many other breweries do (i.e., dark beers = "let's BA them because they're dark").

I hadn't had a good BA beer in a while, but my buddy and I opened a couple of beers the other night, including both Prop and Abita's BA Imperial Stout (brewed with oatmeal -- that's not clear on the Beer Advocate page). Prop is one of the best beers I've ever had, but Abita, hand to god, was comparable. Just an excellent BA beer that's available in Michigan that you might otherwise overlook because it's a somewhat disreputable brewery.

You're right, I probably would overlook the Abita. I'll have to give it a shot!

Also agree that Short's does it right, which is why I wouldn't mind seeing some of that greatness in bottles.

Curious if shorts ever considered a specialty release 4 pack for something like black cherry porter..

I like this idea. Seems like it help get their beer in more peoples hands too.

I doubt that the specialties go quick around here.. but for higher costs to make the beer this is where I think it would help.

Snow Wheat and Black Diamond. I was buying variety packs last season for those two alone...

As long as Freedom, MMMKay, Spruce, Pan Galactic, and Juicy Tree are on the list, I will be happy. Would be nice to get sixers of Stroker Ace and Honey Badger thrown in there. Would be nice to see Aorta back.
Then again, who am I kidding, I am going to buy them all and be thrilled with each release.

As far as I know, Short's will not be bottling anything BA or with nuts. But like everything, never say never.

Hopstache is a MUST in 2015. Imo that was by far their best 2014 release. Would LOVE to see imperial soft parade and I got 5 on it bottled and released. Had both the the brewpub and they were amazing

I had Gone Commando at the tap room this year and it was awesome. Took a growler to go. Put that in bottles, delicious.

Heck yeah- changing the currants to red was a great decision by our brewers. Freakin' great!
