Right? And I didn't mention that in addition to the dry stout they did also have a flavored stout: a single adjunct vanilla stout clocking in at a trend setting 5% ABV.

I'm still scratching my head a bit at why they started with such a huge looking brewhouse capacity, but I'm impressed that they did so with such an apparently traditional focus. It ain't my money so I can only wish them the best.

Ravenous completed the move, the Cumberland location is a big improvement and the Beer seems to be a little better.

The best examples in the world of styles like pils, Belgian pale ale, brown ale, etc are literally .30-.50 lower on average than the best examples of IPAs, fruited sours, BA stouts, etc. So if a place specializes in classic styles Untappd is really not a good barometer.

    To emphasize:

    De Ranke XX: 3.52 global
    Rothaus Pils: 3.45 global
    Bluebird Bitter: 3.49 global
    Orval: 3.73 global

Those are all perfect, world-class beers. All rated a C average at best.

I haven't had anything from the brewery you guys are talking about, just saying, keep in mind the ratings differentiations when accounting for a place like that.

    It is so strange.
The Untappd reviews I hate the most are...
    "This isn't a style I like so 3/5".
    Just don't rate it!

I struggle with this one. On the one hand, I agree (Rothaus <4 lol), but on the other hand... not all beer styles are equal.

It's in Essex, MA basically right next to Woodman's seafood restaurant (which is locally famous for their fried clams).

Notch used to do beer tents at Woodman's in the summer - I wonder if that will still remain the case going forward?

Not really a hidden gem but FiddleHead just announced they are canning their flagship IPA. I’ve been waiting for this for years, too bad it had to come under these circumstances

Faces brewing in malden opened today. They had 4 beers canned to go. I picked up the neipa and blonde coffee stout which were both solid. They did an excellent build for the brewery, too bad it can’t be used yet.

Just tried Widowmaker in Weymouth for the first time. Had their Ready to DIPA, which was really solid hazy dipa. Also had "There's no Wrong Way" which is one of the best peanut butter stouts i've had sub 8%. So much PB flavor and its pretty thick for the abv. Better than gunners daughter and significantly better than trilliums PB Bite (yes i know this one is way lower abv). Will definitely be back.

Oakholm Brewing in Brookfield, MA opened about a month ago. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere (hidden gem) but not too far from Tree House.
I went on a little IPA tour of their offerings this weekend via their curbside pickup. They have 4pak and single can purchasing options with date stamps which is great to see for a brand new brewery. I want to say they had at least eight different beers canned including a stout, a blonde, a lager, and a session. The variety is there if you are interested but I picked up three IPAs and a DIPA.
All of their IPA offerings were very good. The brewery itself is a brand new build out of an old farm building. They host weddings and other events on the farm so I have no doubt the brewery is going to be awesome. They have had food trucks the past couple of weeks so if that counts as a food permit, hopefully they will be open for pours soon.
