Reading those reviews is an example of why I don't trust reviews

I always take into account the person writing the review.

About 5 of the perfect reviews I glanced at are from people with 0 - 8 posts on the site. You're calling that unreliable?

I would be surprised if it was that low. There are a few people in milwaukee that got 4-6 bottles each on the first day. If there are that many people from 4.5 hours away willing to make the hall, I would expect there were many many more from Madison or other closer cities. Also there was a line to start the 2nd day, and there was still some at 3pm. My feeling is they made quite a bit more than 1,000, but that is just an educated guess.

Didn't the departure of the head brewer have to do with the release of SR-71?

Any idea how that would have been related to Mike Saboe's departure? I've heard that too but I haven't been able to make that compute with my internal logic.

I heard somewhere that this beer was a batch not good enough to be Assassin, or something like that

I m not explaining it well, but I can see a scenario where a Head Brewer doesn't want a batch of something released for whatever reason, that happens all the time.

It's the breweries beer though, and if they insisted on releasing what he considered sub par or defective or what have you, and they said screw you We're releasing it anyway.....well I can see how that could upset a head brewer to the.point they would leave.

Did you not read the tweet linked above? Clark definitively said this beer is NOT Assassin.

I would take that to mean that it also wasn't intended to be Assassin which would make your entire post a wild guess that flies in the face of all the evidence.

Put the razor down Gilbert, and untwist your panties.

The point is, if the brewer didn't want something released for WHATEVER reason, be it subpar in his eyes or what3ver , as I attempted to make clear, that could certainly explain a brewer being pissed off enough to leave.

Glad to see the ridiculousness isn't just on the Midwest forum. There is zero evidence for what you're saying, Vicster. The only things we know:
    • They released it
    • Everyone that has had it says it's amazing
    • Clark said it is not Assassin
    • Mike left prior to the release and have no idea why
Them's the breaks. If it is as good as folks are saying (so far, everything I have read ranks it higher than Assassin), there is no sensical reason to assume a brewer thought it was subpar.

No one even knows if this is a "reject" beer or not. For all we know (which is little) it could be just a brand new unidentifiable beer they made. At this point there's been so much back and forth and confusion that it really doesn't even matter anymore. If it's good then that's all that matters. If it's subpar then likewise its all that matters. Only one way to find out!

There is, but I'm thinking it's not worth it to pay the price to find out.
