Lee Chase is a great brewer who started with Stone and now owns Blind Lady, Panama 66 and Tiger! Tiger! Super nice guy. I have nothing but respect for him. But he's not a brewer from a famous and well-established Belgian brewery.

Anyone know what's going on with the Stone / Bruery collaboration? It was brewed in January but still has not gotten a release date.

They've been recalled for not being up to Stone's standards.

EDIT: I mean the entire series, IIRC.

Definitely not the entire series as I am picking up Magik Wootstout and Super Arrogant this Saturday in Escondido.

The Bruery collab had an initial release date in July but that was pulled from the site before July. Perhaps just the Bruery collab was not up to standard?

That could be it. I'd have to go back and find the press release I read yesterday.

I am living in Ohio also and not enjoying the distribution in my 25 mile radius. Only rarely a beer I love comes in less than 3+ weeks old (hoppy beers, obviously,) do you fight this as well? Even big, close breweries like Fat Heads and GLBC don't distribute fresh on a regular basis. Sorry for the rant, this is my inaugural post on here but I have lurked for a long time. Thanks to all of you in here for adding enlightenment as well as humor (and some bizarre shit as well). I've enjoyed the read!

I’ve previously worked as a beer and wine buyer, and Fat Heads would arrive about a week (or less) from bottling. I’m also about 15 miles away from them. You’re right that Stone arrives at the earliest 2 weeks from packaging (if you’re lucky).
I work in the GLBC brewery now, and it’s tricky because we date our bottles “best by” and not “bottled on”. Assume hoppy ales are labeled best-by about 70 days out from packaging, usually.

And I don’t want to “fight” Stone because distribution isn’t possible to get perfect all the time. There always will be delays. There will always be warehouses sitting with beer wasting away. There are so many variables, especially with the enormous distro Stone has. I still enjoy their beers, but I won’t be upset that they can’t be ultra-hyper-Uber freshies (other than maybe Enjoy By). It’s just the nature of wide distribution.

I like the conversation about freshness but this thread is dedicated specifically to the the Groundbreaking Collaboration beers Stone Berlin is brewing. I'm sure there are other threads more relavent to the freshness conversation. Cheers!

Because threads on BA never get even a little off-topic?

    Come on, man.

I think it is only the champion of the sun which is recalled. You can trade it (even empty) for two 750 cl bottle of other collaborations.

Dark Imperial Pilsner? Surely that's a Doppelbock?

There was nothing Doppelbock about it

Funny, because BA has it listed in the German Pilsener category. Based on the description, it doesn't sound anything at all like a Pils either.

I haven't had this beer, but it seems like they should just unapologetically put it in the "euro strong lager" box.

When I went to pick up my bottle of the Maui/Stone collab I got a free beer...but not my beer. They didnt have it available (even though one of Greg's videos DID say that they would), so they gave me a full pour of any beer on the menu.

Im still waiting for the collab's with: Alesmith, Bruery and Evil Twin

I'm fairly certain I lost the pass/ticket they mailed me...anyone know if we can get the info electronically or some other method?

Yes, they send an email when your beer is released with a customer ID and mention bringing that and a valid ID if you lost your pass.
