A chance to buy an 08 Darkness or a Four is worth the price of admission alone. Add the food & beer - it's a no brainer! Jealous I can't attend. Just make sure to keep this off the Iowa beer distro news thread...jk
Have fun tonight! I would have probably gone, but my 6.5 month pregnant wife wouldn't have had as much fun. ...although I could have drank her share!?!
So my buddy told me Todd said that 2014 Darkness will be the only time they barrel age it ever again tonight.
Good to hear. The BA Darkness was good, but was not Darkness for me. Was hoping it was just a special case since they did not have tank space for it in the old brewery.
Todd told me they *do* plan to can Todd the Axeman as a seasonal, and despite the fact that it costs more than twice what Abrasive costs to brew that the price will be the same. He also wants to do a nitro-can of Cacao Bender. BLAKKR is coming back soon (as in, really soon.) I also asked after year-round Bitter Brewer (my favorite Surly beer, served it at my wedding alongside PseudoSue, New Glarus Edel Pils and Stiegl Grapefruit Radler) and while he indicated that's something he wanted to do it's no longer a sure thing or something that'll necessarily happen in the short term future. Excited to hear of more seasonal brews from them soon!
Great event. Food was top notch, firkin of overrated was incredible. Plenty of pours of six and darkness for all. Didn't win anything but they raffled off 12+ bottles.
Guessing that firkin is still pouring this afternoon if anyone wants to try Overrated with Cascade. Not many folks were getting full pours, particuarly not of the cask despite being superbly delicious.
Scratch that, firkin no longer available. Return to your previously scheduled ridiculously fresh and delicious hoppy beers.
