My sons stuck in Ft Drum looking for a great beer store that's an easy drive, Syracuse is the closest big city. He's turning into an ipa freak.
I've heard this one: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32790/ in Watertown is good. In Syracuse try: Galeville Grocery http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25973/ Party source http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1080/ Any Wegmans grocery store Hope this helps.
Bear World in Watertown has a great craft selection. (Yes it's bear not beer world) Much closer than Syracuse to Fort Drum. Best of luck to your son - the winters are pretty tough there!
Bear World in Watertown, a few miles south of Ft. Drum on Rte 11, has a great selection of all beer styles and several very good choices for growler fills. No need to travel.
I have limited experience in Watertown but Bottle Caps has a pretty nice selection for the area. They also have a growler station that occasionally has some nice stuff available. For instance, looks like they have Kiwi Rising from Jack's Abby on now. I have not been to Bear World. I am much more familiar with Syracuse. In my opinion, Galeville Byrne Dairy is no longer worth it. Yes, they occasionally have some nice stuff but that store has gone steadily downhill over the past year. Dusty bottles (that always seemed to be a problem) are much more prevalent now. Brilbeck's in Tipp Hill has a decent selection, usually worth a stop and the Real Food Coop, although significantly smaller, also has some good stuff. All of that said, I don't really notice a huge difference between what is at Bottle Caps and what is in Syracuse. I visit Syracuse about 2-4 times a year so some residents might disagree and I would be happy to hear their recommendations as well.
I've only been to Wegmans and Brilbecks in Cuse. Theres a World of Beer in the mall now if you want pints too.
You need to come to one of our tastings, someone mentioned at the last one that they may have mentioned it to you? Also, hope all is well dude! Been a while.
Probably should of started a new thread for this, but Clark's Ale House tapped a keg of BCBS on Christmas Eve. Just found out, so not sure if or how much is left. Just wanted to pass along to anyone who may have missed out on bottles of it.
