Yuengling lager... far from love it now, but twenty years ago I loved itu unreasonably much. Still enjoy it nostalgically.

First week of college, 1957, Ohio State University. Went to a bar called Larry's (famous campus hangout for years). They had a sign on the wall listing their imports and their countries of origin. Ordered a Younger's Double Century Ale from Scotland. Poured a very active head and looked like Coke. Unbelievable!!! I cut my beer teeth riding around country roads drinking Carling's Black Label (and Red Cap Ale when I could talk my vanilla friends into it) illegally, and this stuff was a revelation and a half for me.

Cigar City Jai Alai, I think it was truly the first "craft" beer I fell in love with and it really introduced me to a whole new world of beers.

Brewdog - Paradox Jura. It was my first BA stout and it made me fall in love with beer. I had had lots of craft beer before but never cared for it until I found out the magic of aging stouts in barrels. Been hooked ever since.

The first beer that I really loved was Hacker-Pschorr, and a lot of restaurants around me had it in bottles or on tap. I got curious one day to see if there were other beers similar to this in style, which brought me to beeradvocate.com. I loved that I was able to view not only other beers in this style, but other beers from this brewer. I thought this was really cool so I set up an account, The rest as they say is history...

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was the first beer I went like "wow". Before that, my fav beers were various Bulgarian lagers that were full of flavor yet not as carbonated as the Heinekens and Amstels I was used to.

Difficult question. Having my first duty station in the military in Germany, I would say mine was either Paulaner Hefeweizen or Keiler Dunkel Weissbier (I called it the pig for the picture of the boar on the label). I used to love hefeweizens and don't drink them often enough now.

Having noted that, very few American craft breweries match the magic of a German hefeweizen as I remember it. For my money, the only American brewed hefe I think matches (and probably exceeds most) the magic of a German hefeweizen is Live Oak.

First beer I loved ... I turned 21 my first year of law school and there was a small bar around the corner from the school where we'd go hang out after glasses or before friday night classes. They had a nice craft beer selection (small but good quality). One of the first beers I ever got there was a fresh Bell's Oberon and I've loved that beer to this day. Don't drink it as much as I used too, but I still get at least a 12 pack or a case at the beginning of summer to enjoy.

Barnsley Bitter. Wonderful beer. Drank it in the Wing Tavern in Newark back in the early 1970's.

A classic IPA, Double Diamond. But a shit beer in keg form. At least that what I heard. Never drank it myself. Despite it working wonders.
