and at $22 a 4 pack... they're still going to pull away with thousands from this debacle and people are still trading the beer! its like you can polish a turd in craft beer.

Agreed, I've never had anything but great experiences at/with Tired Hands, and I don't see why people are so upset about the Instagram post. It sounds like they're going to give you a refund if you want one, why are people so hung up on them admitting they made a mistake? You sound like their parents, intent on making sure they learn their lesson (not you johphisher). It seems like people really have a built up resentment towards them, which I don't understand. I'm jealous of people who live close enough to drop in whenever they want. You're lucky to have the option, and if you don't like the place then you can just ignore the fact that they even exist.

Whether you like the wording Tired Hands used in its IG post or not, the brewery is refunding $6 for every can returned. If you maxed out, you can get a gift card for $72 in exchange for your $66 purchase. Not sure what else you could ask for in this case.

Gift card? Are they not offering a cash refund? And chances are you drank at least one of those cans to figure out it was bad so you will probably end up breaking even in the end. If you bought one 4 pack you would be down $4.

lol no resentment here. just calling it like i see it. im sure that the hundreds of people complaining about this beer are not ignorant to the fact that it may mellow out. it's just a sign of arrogance to put out a product that is inferior to the ones you've put out in the past and then blame the customers for drinking it so soon. all the while, bearing no blame besides the fact that they did not notify the consumer. but whatever people should feel lucky that they exist so they can do whatever they want.

lol a gift card would even be more a slap in the face!

I'm gonna give the "sit on it for a couple days" the benefit of the doubt here based on my experience with Alien Church a couple weeks ago... granted, it was the first time i had AC, but I opened one soon after getting them home, on the day they were canned, and my initial response was "WTF?"... It wasn't bad, but it was very green ... similar to other things I've had directly from bright tanks, only colder.... Nose was miles away from the taste too.... but three or four days later, and NOT due to pallette shift, things had melded nicely.. Still doesn't account for batch to batch variations.....

Had Mago Tago for the first time late December of 2014 shipped to me in a growler. It was one of the best beers I'd ever tried at that point and the mango flavor and aroma was strong and delicious. My palate has evolved to be able to handle a much more bitter beer so were it that bitter I'm sure I would have found it extreme back then. Tried magomago tagotago a few months back, shipped to me in a growler. The mango was nearly nonexistent and I was extremely disappointed. It wasn't a bad beer or even average beer, it was good but not what I'd hoped for. Was looking to trade for can's this round but I'd say its pretty obvious something was wrong with the batch. Hopefully all the issues will get ironed out next time around.

Ok haven't had one yet but a friend of mine who just opened one 10 minutes ago (jealous) and who I brew with put it this way: "it's kind of like if you check on the beer a few days after you brew / dry hop cause you can't help yourself, that's how "green" it tastes. I think they just put it out there too early."

What he didn't say was that it was bad and even complimented the amount of mango, so yeah I'm going to sit on it for a bit and see how it goes.

Offering a cash refund would represent negative cash flow. By issuing a gift card that at most represents some lost profit of future sales (i.e., if they sold those beers to new paying customers).

One thing you gotta say for Tired Hands - they know how to maximize sales/revenue/profits.

    Cheers!

People have been told Tired Hands would refund them for an open can. Now, I wouldn't go drink your entire allotment and then run to the Ferm, but one can shouldn't be a problem.

Drinking one now, even let it open for a while. Nowhere near as bad as some people are saying...I'd go so far to say that it's actually decent and should be really good if the green/heat recedes in the next week. A couple thoughts come to mind:

    1) People are so used to "fruit bomb" IPA's that they forget the style is supposed to be bitter....that's from the hops, if you've heard of those.

    2) Trillium (best IPA's out there, I think) has often waited a few days to release certain IPA's because they're "too green". I think this was the case with at least one batch of Headroom. In fact, having drank 12 cans of the last batch of Headroom, it was quite overly bitter, resinous, and borderline acidic for the first week. When it settled down it was straight up marvelous. Mago has some things in common with "ultra young" Headroom, though it's even more green.

Because when you charge $22 for a beer, knowing it's off and know full well people will still go out of their way and don't admit fault it's a slap in the face. It's as if they are saying, we know you'll just line up next week so just let it sit and it'll turn into a great beer. It's insulting that they think this an acceptable response.

So, the brewery (Trillium) permited the beers to condition for a period of time before selling those beers? Did I understand you properly?

    Cheers!

Its almost like the great Bourbon County disaster! I appreciate Tired Hands offering compensation to their customers. The Instagram post could have been worded better but we all know Tired Hands isn't losing customers over this issue.

Yes, I think they said the most recent batch of Headroom was "too green" upon canning and let it sit for some time, not sure how long. It turned into a completely amazing beer too.
