The general Beer Talk forum has a thread called Top 5 Summer Sippers. I replied to that with a list of MN-brewed beers (https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/top-5-summer-sippers.576187/#post-6048203)

Then, this thread was posted: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...est-101-beers-in-america.576305/#post-6048912

I'm not commenting here on the above thread, but it led me to another article on City Pages: http://www.citypages.com/restaurants/local-suds-5-minnesota-beers-to-drink-in-june/484506611

So I thought: "Wow! Surly is brewing a Kölsch!"

I'll definitely have to try that one this summer!

So, what is your list of top MN-brewed hot weather beers?

Has anyone tried the Surly HeatSlayer yet?

We were landscaping over Memorial Weekend, and damn that 12 pack of Blus really hit the spot.

I think Surly Heat Slayer is pretty good, I like it. But I don't drink enough Kolsch's to rank or rate it.

Keller Pils was great all winter long, I imagine it will be even better over the summer. The wife is a big fan of Indeed Lucy as a summer beer and I don't have any issues with that.

I have always been a huge fan of Size 4 from Steel Toe for the hot days.

Wish I could get some... Summit's beer finder shows it isn't available anywhere near the Fargo area. I would drink Dakota Soul more often but I hate bottles... Glad Blu is everywhere, on my third 12 pack.

Man, can't find any here do to a supposed issue with the CO2. Had to custom order a part from Germany. At least that's the story we are being told in the TC.

I like fair state's Pahlay'ahlay a lot. Just the right amount of hops and super drinkable. I've also been enjoying utepils dry hopped hefe a bit

Olvalde Rollingstoner: Something about that beer really evokes summer to me (probably the corn and elderflower). It's refreshing and relatively low ABV at 5% yet brimming with flavor.

I've been avoiding buying the Surly summer pack just to try Heat Slayer, so I jumped at the chance when my local had broken a pack apart and was offering them as singles. I bought all 3 from the pack.

First impression (as is my usual, I'll wait for a second taste on a different day before I submit a review): A nice light summer beer, but as with many Surly beers with traditional style names, not really true to style. If you are looking for a locally-brewed Kölsch, Utepils Copecetic is better. If you are a Surly fan, this is a nice summer beer.

I just had my first Fair State Pils while on vacation. Perfect summer beer. I wish I could get it back home.
