Any ideas on what the two new Assassin variants that TG mentioned today will be?

Took me a while to figure out what you were talking about since I’m signed up for the news letter I didn’t even read that post. B.C must be bacon cinnamon and CPV must be coconut pineapple vanilla.

no idea if this was known already but looks like there's going to be a 2023 release of DB assassin (bourbon/Apple brandy):

They have changed it and made it into a Double IPA now... Cause we didn't have enough doubles from them already I guess?

Heard a rumor that they are finally changing their name/branding and are going to be known at "Goliath Brewing" going forward.

Can't speak to the rumor, but this seems silly. Why would they? I'm probably missing some backstory. There's so much value (and recognition) in the name "Toppling Goliath". There's none in "Goliath Brewing".

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but per the event page:

"Rye Double Barrel Assassin will be on draft throughout the release; however, due to limited supply, this draft will be limited to one 4 oz. pour per ticket holder. It will not be available to the general public."

Isn’t that the “oil” in term oil? Aren’t they all just flavorings?

Not going to lie, a bit jealous of all the barrel aged beers Toppling Goliath has been releasing and I haven't had a chance to try ANY of them! I was on a hot streak at the end of the last decade, winning three Assassin releases in a row, KBBS and some Mornin' Delight (when they were still somwhat tough to get)... but since (and including) 2020 Assassin, I've gotten zilch....zero...nothing...njet... nula.... cero. WTF TG?! Living four hours away, I won't ever make a trip unless I win one of those, so... maybe never making a trip again??!

keep at it! your luck is bound to change… i was like zero for 13 over the course of like 5-6 years before hitting KBBS in 21 and then again in 22 and now Rye DB Assassin. just don’t give up on entering is all i’m saying!

And damn, all 3 of those were so good. MD was like pure maple syrup.

Is anyone else seeing the Toppling Goliath hype dying down bigtime? My local store ordered 6 fresh-off-the-line packs of King Sue in early December - I was at the store a few days ago and exactly 5 packs were remaining with the same early Dec expiration date. They used to take up a lot of space 1-2 years ago, now I mostly see Pseudo Sue. A few of their beers (Dorothy's Lager, Pompeii) got relegated to the unrefrigerated bargain shelf.

I also have no idea why every single special release IPA of theirs is yet another 7.8% hop bomb, just saw yet another one on the shelves when I was at the store. I'm not saying they need to start experimenting with sours, imperial stouts, black lagers, and other random crap, but their high ABV schtick is getting old...

In my market in KY, they came into the area initially with some excitement and pretty quickly started collecting dust on the shelves. Recently came across some 6 month old Dragon Fandango cans. Those used to sell out the day the hit the shelves, no one seems to care much anymore.

I love TG beer (would it just be G beer ) but I’m personally a little sick of the hype machine and price gouging on their BA stouts … however my distance from TG has made it a lot easier to skip the special releases. I love being able to find reasonably fresh King Sue on the shelf. I think it’s reasonably priced and it is almost always in my fridge.

Join the crew, we( meaning me myself and I) complain often about how every single beer they release is above 7.5% now a days. They actually just took one of my favorites from them, FSM, after not releasing it for about 2 years and are now re-releasing it as a double ipa. These changes do come after I heard all of their lower end ABV beers have not been selling well so I guess I am just odd man out when it comes to wanting a gold old fashion X-hops pale.

At the end of the day TG has been changing for the worse for a while now. Mike is no longer involved in day to day brewing ops, and rarely is bringing new beers to the table anymore besides big release stouts. So they are pretty much without an actual brew master heading the ship. Eric is pretty much a yes man to Clark, and Clark is keen on building TG into a nation wide brewery as he is looking to sell the company around late 24-25 from I'm hearing.

As I always say, I'm still waiting for my Sue mix packs that should of been released two years ago.
