Surprised these guys don't have their own forum yet as they continue to pump out good beer.

I love Transmitter. Just picked up F1 from my local store. I'll be going back to get F4 tomorrow. F0 was the last one I had a few months ago. Unreal.

There prices are high but I completely understand why. Keep the farmhouse/saison style ales coming and I'll be a fan forever! No need for them to do IPAs, stouts, etc. Stick with what you excel at.

Have they fixed their overcarbonation bottling issue? I enjoyed some of their F series beers last year and would consider buying them again if this is the case.

The last beer I had by them was the B5 on draft, which I thought was very good.

No carbonation issues in the last 4 bottles I've had over the past few months. Seems they've gotten passed that issue.

That's great news as there are a few current offerings that piqued my interest.

I haven't tried enough of their stuff... for no good reason. Happy they're the NYC brewery to lead the charge on distro (we've had their stuff in NJ stores for months). I will try to support in the future. Which beers are the best?

Thanks for the OP. These guys definitely hang with the best of the other local NYC breweries. I'm a member of their CSB club and loving it!

I actually just posted about H4 in the Latest Wow! Beer thread. Transmitter brews some excellent and very unique funk-forward beers.

    has anyone had F7?

I had it last July according to untappd and gave it 3.75. From other checkins it appears it was rebrewed in February and received higher scores (at least according to my friends' checkins on untappd). Maybe they tweaked this most recent batch?

That sounds like something I might have had from them :grinning:. More than one, probably...

@zid brought to my attention on another thread that it can be hard to remember their beers due to their naming convention, and now that I think about it none of those names really stuck with me. That's probably also a product of drinking their stuff in a bar, rather than buying the bottles- where my 'exposure' to the actual name is kind of fleeting.

Anyway, from now on I may just start posting a 'tick' just so that I can remember which is which. It's not something I normally do, but may have to in this case.

I agree. Not a fan of their naming system.

Is there an F# that you would recommend for a dry (perhaps bitter) saison... not sour or tart in any way (brett is fine). Their price keeps me from picking up any ol' bottle.

It's hard to remember which beers were dry or not since the names are hard to remember.

I have yet to try the F1 I bought the other day, but it is a Golden Ale with Brett. I've heard its dry on the finish.

The Rice Saison, S8 (? could be wrong), was relatively dry and plenty tasty.

B5, the Dry Brett Stout, is plenty dry. I had it few months ago and it was fantastic. As @TongoRad mentioned in his review, its "dry, dry, dry".

Yeah their NY4 Berliner Weisse mit lime/rosemary schuss was great. No one I know offers a Berliner Weisse "mit schuss". So I was very happy to see them serve their weisse traditionally at the NY Brewer's Choice event.

I've been drinking their beers since their opening party at Brouwerij Lane two years ago and I've never been disappointed by anything they offer.

EDIT: Oh I will say some of the early bottles I got from them were over carbed, but I've haven't encountered that issue since their early days.

It's definitely confusing and harder to remember but I get why they went with it: their naming system is taxonomic and wholly proprietary. It's hard for a new brewery to make the names of their beers stick out these days, even the ones that opt for really outlandish names, so it helps to have a system that's entirely your own. Also I like the system to some extent because it basically classifies the beers by style, or at the very least the vein that the brewers were going for (i.e. their 'H' beers are their line of Harvest Ales, barrel-aged American wilds with some sore of fruit addition). Lastly, it builds a degree of consumer loyalty -- the letter/number system lends itself to ticking and gives the consumer a sense of being 'in the know'.
