I'm heading to Minneapolis in a couple weeks. What are some beers/breweries that are available in Minnesota that I can't get in Nebraska? I know New Glarus is available up there, but what about other breweries?
New Glarus brews great beer but you'll have to make a run across the border to get it, Wisconsin distribution only. Other wise my choices would include Surly, Indeed, Steel Toe, Lift Bridge, Bent Paddle.
New Glarus is only available in Wisconsin. From Minneapolis, Hudson is probably your best bet; it's just east of the twin cities on 94. For some MN locals, I'd recommend Surly, Fair State, Steel Toe and Indeed. You should also stop by Town Hall if you have the chance and you can walk across the street to Republic, one of the best beer bars in the area. EDIT: what @TEdubbaD said!
New Glarus is only available in Wisconsin, but is available EVERY where in Wisconsin including gas stations and grocery stores. Depending on your route, Hudson isn't too far from the cities if you need a New Glarus fix. Here are two threads that should help with suggestions for beers and breweries available in Minnesota. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-minnesota.349982/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/minneapolis-trip-help.373643/
The threads that nograz posted should be a big help. Cliff Notes - Surly, Dangerous Man, Indeed, and Lift Bridge are probably the best breweries around here. If you're looking for others near downtown Minneapolis, try Town Hall or Day Block. There are lots of other good ones, so if one catches your eye, don't hesitate to bring up a specific brewery for opinions. For stores, Ale Jail, France 44, and Heritage would be good choices.
