I was reading through JohnJohnBeer's "Ultimate Whale" thread, and it got me thinking... Just how big of a whale is the object of my greatest (beer-related) desires? This glass, for reasons that would make absolutely no sense to explain here, is incredibly popular amongst my friends. A little research indicates that the beer for which it is named is a brewery-only release from Bruges. (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/48/13889/) Has anyone ever traded for this beer? Has anyone even tried this beer? Does it really exist? For Gary's (Garre's) sake, I must know..
It showed up in Dallas (among other places in the US -- just take a gander at the reviews) on draft a few times last year. It's good, but certainly not my favorite tripel. There's also something to be said for the experience of having it at Staminee De Garre; finding the tiniest little alley leading to a really laid back pub.
Thanks for the intel, guys. Seems like my dreams of a ProperGlassware experience at my house might be a stretch, but I look forward to finding it on tap one day!
