Don't be a downer. Kenosha is a great town -- spent a lot of beer learning by helping to brew in Kenosha.

Great bars, good restaurants, fun minor league baseball team. Give 'em a break.

Unless, of course, you mean who visits -- when they could live there? I almost did -- a couple times. would'a been too far from work and far too close to temptation.

+1 for Woodman's. FYI, I BELIEVE the only credit card they take is Discover. Otherwise it's cash, debit card, or check. And they'll take a out-of-state check. Also, best price for gas.

Mars Cheese Castle is kind of fun, especially if you have kids. But their beer is a bit pricey. FYI, the inside barely looks like a castle.

I used to as a kid. Dad's work HQ was out of there. We'd feed the ducks at some nearby pond, get some Kringle, sometimes hit the Brat Stop. But yeah, I had no say in the matter.

EDIT: Seeing your current location, made it up to Polebridge yet?

The people of Illinois & Wisconsin who cross the border to purchase great cheese and Wisconsin beers with limited distribution.

Public Craft downtown is also worth a look, and Buzz Cafe sells singles to go. Sazzy B's has good food and 50+ bourbons. Tenuta's is great, don't miss the deli and vast selection of Italian goods. If the grill is going, get an Italian sausage combo.

If you have a little extra time, Racine is 15 min. north and Timer's is a great shop there. Food-wise there's Wells Bros., SapSap, Maple Table, Toad Hall, Kewpie, and Littleport Brewing for beer.

Wind Lake and Burlington are further out if you have a few extra hours to kill. Aman's is a destination shop for beer/bourbon in Wind Lake with a 200+ whiskey bar on-site. Low Daily in Burlington is a newer brewery worth the trip, and Runaway nanobrewery is in Burlington also.

    Oliver's and Paielli's FTW.

Tacos El Norte? Always liked that place, it's right by Tenuta's too.

Wow, I had no idea. Looks like they're building a mini-empire on the IL side too.

When does the Petrifying Springs biergarten open for the season?

Yeah, not sure of their history, but the first place was in a tiny strip mall in Libertyville. Not a bad little joint (I used to have a location conveniently positioned on my way home from work).
Good question -- I was just thinking about that.

Looks like their first event is in May, so...

Considering that it's snowing up this way today...

Nah, Los Taquitos on 22nd St. Or Los Cantaritos on 52nd Ave for seafood. Norte was good last I went a few years back but I've heard it's slipped a little bit.

I'll be the first to make a contentious Best Pizza claim and toss my hat in for Valeo's. Way better than Ruffalo's. Fight me.
