Not sure I've had much from Philly. Would love to here some recommendations on best breweries, hops, cheesesteaks, etc. Big History buff as well, so the best and most time efficient way to navigate through the obvious historical spots.

    Thanks!

Where are you staying? Center City, near the Airport, or in the burbs somewhere?

If you use the search function for Philly or Philadelphia there are quite a bit of other threads too.

The good news is that much of the history sites are in close proximity to each other:
    • Independence Hall
    • Constitution Center
    • Liberty Bell
    • Betsy Ross House
    • Museum of the American Revolution
And you can visit the City Tavern and eat some Colonial cuisine and also drink some Colonial era beer brewed by Yards Brewing.

    Have fun!

    Cheers!

P.S. And make sure you eat a cheesesteak during your visit - a good cheesesteak or a touristy cheesesteak (Pat's, Geno's,...).

Also there are a number of newer breweries that are listed in the BA Places database, but don't show up in the "Nearby" map due to the ongoing issue of lack of updating.

This is a more accurate current map if you are a visual person:

I am partial to Yards as the legacy Philly craft brewery (and their new place has good food), but they are more known for English style beers. If you want a few cask beers, Dark Mild, Porter, everything served in 20 oz pints, etc. But no hazy IPAs, their flagship IPA is solid but it's copper colored and bitter.

I've had solid hoppy beers at places like Love City, Urban Village, Second District, or you can go to any number of beer bars and get a pint of something from Tired Hands who is known for their hop forward beers (the brewpub is out in Ardmore, but they distribute kegs to the city).
