Just wanted to chime in and mention how much Brewing Projekt is killing it. I did a side by side comparison before dinner tonight between Old Nation M 43, Oddside Dank Juice, and DMT (4 hop). DMT was the winner hands down. I really think it is one of the best hazy IPA's coming out of the Great Lakes at this point.

Keep an eye out. I’ve heard they’ve got a collab with new Belgium coming up, in EC.

Yeah. Most of WI and the Twin Cities. As far south as Madison, but I don't think they get to Milwaukee yet. Definitely worth seeking out.

It's funny (and really incorrect) that they refer to New Glarus's fruit beers as "lambics." I guess the writer has only had Lindeman's sweetened ones?

Otherwise, it was interesting, even if the writing quality is below average.

Common Man not going to be a brewery and are selling their equipment I c/p their post via Facebook
Common Man Brewing is approaching our third anniversary and as we do each year at this time we think strategically on how to best position our business for long term success. After careful consideration we have decided to sell our brewing equipment and not work towards brewing our own beer.

We have never brewed a batch a beer at our pub largely out of space reasons as rapid growth on the restaurant side of our business required us to convert brewing space to dining space. T...hat circumstance has not changed.

There are other reasons to move on from brewing (most are boring financial things) including that there are now thirty more brewers and their beers to choose from for our tap line since we opened. It is a great time to be alive if you are a beer drinker!

However, the most important reason is that we can use the energy that has been devoted to figuring out a way to brew to strengthening what we do well already. One example is a significant upgrade of our patio area this summer. We are excited about the future and can't wait to share more ideas and new ways to experience our Common Man brand.

We are going to change our name to more accurately reflect who we are and we need your help. Please take a minute to take the poll to help us select our new name. We will unveil the new name as part of our three year anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 19th.

Thank you for a great three years and your continued support. We are humbled beyond belief by the many kind words you have shared. We look forward to serving you, our friends, for many years to come

I stopped by Northwoods Brewpub in Osseo, Turtle Stack in La Crosse, and Skeleton Crew in Onalaska last weekend. I tried only one beer at Northwoods, and it wasn't very good. The space is huge, especially by small town standards, but it was almost empty during my visit (a Thursday afternoon, not exactly prime time for a bar). I was impressed (although not blown away) by the Turtle Stack. It's a solid, modern craft brewery that handles a variety of styles pretty well. Skeleton Crew turned out to be an extension of Lost Island Winery, and wine clearly was the emphasis of the tasting room. I can't say that Skeleton Crew's beer was particularly good, and I didn't try the wine, but the venue has a fun if understated Caribbean vibe. I'm told that there's no associated vineyard and that the winery trucks in its grapes from California.

I found out about two breweries-in-planning in La Crosse: 608 Brewing and La Crosse Distilling. The latter, as the name implies, primarily will be a distillery, but the owner plans to serve at least one house-brewed beer in its tasting room.

608 Brewing Company in La Crosse is going to be consciously hip, focusing on the Trendy Trinity of NEIPAs, pastry stouts, and kettle sours. It's already one of the best breweries in the world (according to friends and family on Untappd, with a 4.44 average rating for its homebrew). Your latest coolest brewery has its grand opening on August 10. Let the hype commence!
